I never really believed in heros but things have changed, especially over the last four years. What about that lot heading to Dublin Saturday. Yes I'm GREEDY :::::: Jim Mc GUINNESS and HIS WHOLE SQUAD. 2011/2014. Have given DONEGAL football some lift. Have given the supporters some excitement and joy.
This is from a man who has followed DONEGAL football for 50 years. 1964-2014.

Willie Joe Padden and David Brady. Outside of Mayo you would have Dara O'Shea, Paidi, Jack in Kerry, Padraig Joyce in Galway, Tyrone Peter 'the great' Canavan, Donegal Jimmy McGuinness (he looked like God with the beard and long hair and now he is God in Tir Connail) you could be here all day writing legends names

Tommy Walsh. Only GAA player to win 9 consecutive all-stars, only player to win all-stars in defence, midfield and forwards. Smallest man on the Kilkenny team yet opposing teams would come up with tactics to try limit his influence. Plus the sheer bliss of opposition fans working themselves into a frenzy over the latest Tommy "atrocity". Magic stuff.

Tommy walsh isnt the only player to win a hurling all star in defence, midfield and forwards. Ken McGrath did too although in fairness in 2004 he got midfield he mostly played at no. 6. Another Legend all the same.

C Mcdonald of Mayo, what a player had everything, I seen him play numerous times never seemed to get the plaudits he deserved.Alan Brogan, Padraic Joyce, Maurice fitz, Brian Mcguigan and Mugsy Tyrone are my next fav players.

Agree with RD.

Graham Geraghty.

Others like Mick Lyons, Darren Fay, Trevor Giles, Ollie Murphy but to me personally it was always Geraghty. To be it was Graham and he'd scored the most incredible goals often to win big matches and equally great points to match. His two points against Dublin in 2005 at least one of them with his bad foot were magic. The cheek of him to even take it on. What a man and Meath football may never see his like or the other greats I mentioned again.

In hurling I'd have to say the Rock from Cork. Some of his hits were scary. A bit like Jonah Lomu loafing lads for fun.

Dan the man and John Mullane from Waterford too.

Well from a Galway football pov then I'd have a few. Niall finnegan (to me such an important cog in the 98 winning team wheel), Sean og de paor, padraig Joyce but my personal favourite was savo, Derek savage. Cortoon legend.

Hurling, there's been a few, joe cooney, joe rabbitte, Eugene cloonan but Kevin broderick would be my choice

"high or Low, its Willie Joe" "the Mullet from Bellmullet" any man that comes back on from a cut head with a pair of underpants on the head to stop the bleeding has to be a cult hero.

Ciaran McDonald would be second.
