Should Finals be concluded on the day ?

I stand corrected then

But technically i still have a point with regard the football semi final, If Donegal and Dublin's minors ended a draw last sunday week, That would have went to extra time, Why in that sweltering heat should those minors play ET at 16/17 years old, Yet the seniors, had that ended a draw, Would have been going back to Croker for a replay ?

Games should just be finished on the day, OR at least ET played, And if it ended a draw after ET, then fair enough... No arguments then.

because senior is the main event and thats pretty much it really..not fair but thats just the way it is...if u remember waynol kerry and mayo drew an all ireland minor semi in 2008 also and played a replay..maybe the rules have changed recently?

Maybe, But it did say in the programme for Dublin v Donegal that the minor game would need "extra time to be played if necessary". So maybe rules have changed.

Last year the minor hurling semi went to a replay, Galway/Limerick I think and than Clare/Limerick was pushed back. So you are right Wayno. I agree with you, for me a final should be finished on the day, it is the final game like.

on a side note you would prefer replays to the farce that was leicester and cardiff in the heneiken semi 1 year?..forwards having to take drop goals and all sorts..awful way to get into a final i felt..replay would have been better

Personally I think all semi finals should go to extra time, but all finals should be a replay.

If you were one of the teams concerned and you equalized with the last shot of the game wouldn't you be happy to walk away with the chance another day.I'd say Clare last year against Cork were quiet happy to get another chance .Replay is best for finals.

If there is another big payday on the cards, then it is a no brainer. There will always be a replay if it is possible. A second replay is also legislated for as well is it not if the teams remain level the second day.

A replay would be less of a lottery for so much at stake but there's the shortage of dates at this time of year. If it's overcast on 27th Sept. it'll be getting dark by 6.30pm ( what's good for the goose, I know...).
The Camogie & ladies'football are entitled to their showpiece days too.
Jimmy Barry-Murphy is right in saying that 3 weeks is too long a gap for two motivated sets of players who'd have to find their mojo a second time.

Arguments for and against.

Minor finals do go to replays.

2003 defo did unfortunately for us!

I think finals should go to replays (senior, minor and U21s) but that all other games should be decided by ET to relieve the stress on fixtures for clubs.

Why is it not being played this Saturday? Croke park is free. Put it on as a double header with the U21 final. Waiting 3 weeks is a bit of a disaster for Tipp. Good for Killkennys old stagers though.

I know that. But i'm sure they would rather play in a full Croker than an empty Thurles if offered the chance.
