Buckley is a good shout. The group has such a unity of purpose that there's no sense in dismantling the panel overnight. What's needed is 2,3,4 new faces to freshen the panel up a little, along with giving some of the younger lads who featured in the league this year more of an extended run. Mortimer is still a good player, but should only be considered if he's prepared to bed in to the group, and that is a big 'if'.

Buckley would provide some continuity from the old regime, which obviously had the trust of most of the players, but he would have the tactical nous to address some of Mayo's failings.

Has to be either McStay or Noel Connelly. County board can't look past these two imo

An outsider might just do the trick and doesn't seem to be getting to much support here. Maybe Mc Stay could co manage with such a person if he would consiider that option.

There is only one man who could (and if he had been in Mayo this last 4years they would have won Sam) and that is Jim McGuinness but he won't be come manager. Would Mayo fans like to have him??
Do not know where we stand with him and this CELTIC job but we might not have him next year.

But I'd love to see him take on this present Mayo squad. It would be some challenge for him.

Best man, by far but its wrong of supporters to put the chap under pressure by statn he's the ONLY one who can get Mayo over the line..the chap hasent even been offered the job let alone accepted it.....

James Horan should be approached to give it another year as he had a knee jerk reaction to last week's calamity.

Would the Mayo lads take McGeeney if he wasn't involved with his one true love?

Hard to know who'll get the job. Pat Holmes has ruled himself out, Donnie Buckley is gone to the Kerry U-21's. Kevin Mc Stay has rowed back somewhat on his comments on the Sunday game. Its made all the more difficult with the restrictions that the county board are imposing from the start on the new manager.

Donie Buckley is coming to Kerry for the U21s coach under Dara O Se next year so he is out of the running.

To be honest I think the Mayo job is probably the most appetising job out there now. Great material to work with for a manger and would be labelled an absolute hero for forever more if he won the AI with Mayo.
I not sure the Mayo CB should jump at hiring Mcstay..he made his spiel on the Sunday Game and said all the right things but this mayo job should get a lot of interest by managers outside of Mayo also.

Dont think there is too much that needs to be changed apart from unearthing a couple of inside forwards that can have a big influence on games starting or coming off the bench.

Wouldn't be interested in mcgeeney personally. Not the type of manager we need. I would be interested in seeing what jim mcguinness would do with mayo, how he would go about things. I thought one fault JH had was maybe he wasn't calculated enough with his own players. McGuinness I feel has a better view of the bigger picture. In truth, I think a great fit for mayo would be Fitzmaurice, but that wont be happening. McStay is in a similar mould to him, so maybe McStay deserves his chance?
