The end of the greatest Mayo team of all time?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Mayo were written off last year after losing to Dublin. They came back seemingly stronger this year ( something still lacking in their forwards panel wise)
Mayo will be back again next year.Still dont see anyone catching them in Connaught. Then they are back into a 1/4 finals.
Possibly if they can get more our of Freeman and then just have Andy Moran as an imapct sub.

if they can unearth a young forward or 2 they will again be in with a shot of the AI

I have nothing but admiration for this Mayo team. The way they keep coming back and giving it everything is inspirational.

I think it is very, very unfair to brand them as chokers. I would say they are perhaps the unluckiest team in the country.
They certainly gave Donegal a better game in 2012 than Dublin did on Sunday. That's a game they could easily have won. They lost to Dublin by a point last year. That's much tougher to come back from than a hammering I would think.
One thing though: O'Connor is class but Mayo lack a really pacey powerful runner and like Dublin I reckon they are going to need to
get a forward in the Donaghy mould to combat blanked defences.

I reallty hope to see them back next year. Aidan o'Se typifies all that is good about our game.
