Donegal v Kerry

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The two Kerry goals were most un-Donegal like too. One of the characteristics of this Donegal team has been their ability to get the simple things right. The path to Donegal's goal was never so easy in any other game this year. 50 seconds in and Donegal must still have been in the dressing room. The second one was a calamity. There were two gifts from the hills and together both goals were too much to overcome in the end.

1654616 The day donegal got out donegaled and I loved every minute of it!
No plan b to puke football.

Im wondering, Kerry more or less played identical football, in fact, it could be said played more puke football, cynical if you like as evidenced by their concession of frees. So in essence, puke football won out.. Don't hide your dislike of Donegal by saying you dislike puke football.

Thanks waynol, I remember encountering you before the 2011 final and your visceral emotional posts willing the Dubs to win that final, it was genuine and emotive, I was gutted, you always show class here and are a true Gael, more than a lot of us and I include myself in that.

Well done to Kerry, I honestly thought you's had very little chance after losing Cooper but there you go, you can never rule out Kerry, also hard luck to Donegal, you's have been great all year and just fell short at the last. Have to say, I'm really feeling for Durcan today, it was a terrible mistake but we all make mistakes and I hope he shakes this off as quick as possible. In the end it was a really poor game it has to be said but Kerry won't mind at all and why would they, they're the champions, well done again.

Well now, its been some couple of days. A very special day for all Kerry people in Dublin. A wonderful, wonderful occasion and to finally see a minor team win when I was there was very special. I started a post in Kerry forum after Cork game saying we would win the All Ireland and even during a few bad days in the league I could tell this group of men were something special.

Seems conciousness is that it was poor game. I found it fascinating, the intensity, the sense of which side might wilt first really absorbing stuff and funnily it was the least animated I ever was at an All Ireland. I just had this enormous confidence, especially in the second half, that we win it.

Great day and night with Donegal supporters too, such lovely people. I really hope its only round 2 of a new, epic rivalry with another power from the North.

A great great day, and brilliant to follow team home to Tralee last night. Twas better than the Roses on Denny St last night!!

Oh, it's been some few days alright TheHermit. Great occasion in the capital. Such a marvellous day and a sweet victory. You were a brave man to start that post after the Cork game. I thought it too but to be honest was happy for the cat to be in the bag. The young lads last week were under no pressure with no hype and all talk of our difficult opponent.

I found it a fascinating game as well. I wasn't that much animated either, especially in the last 10 minutes after 3 years ago. Shared the same confidence. We knew Fitz would have a plan. The first goal was a special moment. Moving out Star and James and leaving Geaney inside. Brilliant move. Donegal have developed their style of play over 3-4 years. Fitz had only 3 weeks to implement the plan. It was in no way like our approach against Cork, Galway and Mayo in the two games.

It'll be another epic rivalry against an Ulster team alright. Armagh and Tyrone are going to be major threats as well. A discussion very much for another day. Ciarrai abu!
