All-Ireland football semi finals have been played previously outside of Croke Park,i.e. Thusles and Cork. It is not setting a precedent. There should be no rules saying games should not be played outside of Croke Park. Stadia have been built to facilitate and to maximize attendances. I believe the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday will maximize the attendance for the GAA. I also believe the Gaelic Grounds will be no hindrance to Mayo winning the Match. The Gaelic Grounds has an excellent playing surface. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 598 - 25/08/2014 16:46:09 1641861 Link 0 |

Dont forget Fainleog the gaelic grounds also has one of the worst stands in the country for watching a game from. If the GAA think the max attendance for next sat will be 40k then they're not with it. You can add 50% for the Kerry crowd from yesterday for starters - people will be left with out tickets and thats not what anyone wants. Although they might be the lucky ones - its going to be pure carnage traffic wise around Limerick next sat..cant wait for the delayed start time!! blacknamber (Kerry) - Posts: 267 - 25/08/2014 17:01:39 1641875 Link 0 |
Such is the paucity of public transport in this country that Dublin is the only place anyone can get to and have a pint as well. Nothing wrong with Limerick, Thurles etc. as venues. AnFearDonn (Kilkenny) - Posts: 65 - 25/08/2014 17:02:23 1641878 Link 0 |

I don't see too many posters from Kerry complaining that the match is been played in Limerick. The GAA said that it would not expect a crowd greater than 40,000 if the Kerry V Mayo match should be replayed on a Saturday evening in Croke Park.It is clear from past games that Saturday evening matches do not attract the same attendances as on a Sunday. If there is going to be the huge extra numbers of Kerry people attending on Saturday next, it is because Limerick will be far more convenient than Dublin. Hence, a wise decision to play the game in the Gaelic Grounds. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 598 - 25/08/2014 17:33:19 1641902 Link 0 |

Hill 16 - There are plenty tickets available for sale at present, when the 45,000 tickets are sold, you can then worry about the other 20,000 who you say will not be able to get their hands on same. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 598 - 25/08/2014 18:11:00 1641926 Link 0 |

Would have loved for the replay to be in CP. I should be in Dublin at around 2-30 on Sat so would have taken in the game. Also how many more Donegal fans would have gone plus I'd say a few Dubs also. ( would have given us Donegal fans a chance to spy on our All Ireland final opponents) HaHa SamOnErrigal (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 25/08/2014 20:33:41 1642006 Link 0 |
We would urge as many Mayo supporters as possible to get tickets for the replay in Limerick. We need as much support as yesterday, if not more! We need to turn the Gaelic Grounds into a #seaofgreenandred MayoClub51 (Mayo) - Posts: 157 - 25/08/2014 21:30:17 1642032 Link 0 |
It should be on in Croker no doubt but personally I can't wait to see it being played down in a packed limerick, Sunday was a great game but the empty spaces in Croker take away from the occasion a little bit IMO, like seeing a player kicking a point on the reverse camera angle into an empty hill doesn't look right for a big semi final game IMO clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 26/08/2014 09:08:16 1642077 Link 0 |

Irish Rail are doing some good dead for the match. Looks like reasonably_priced accommodation Ian't that easy to find in and around Limerick for Saturday night. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7365 - 26/08/2014 11:49:20 1642157 Link 0 |
A pitch is a pitch, the decision is set in stone now and both camps will just get on with it. Personally, I don't fancy making 4 hour trip up to Dublin and then same back down again twice in 6 day period. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 26/08/2014 12:04:58 1642178 Link 0 |
Tbf posters if the Dublin Meath game was a draw they were moving the replay to Thurles cause of the Garth brooks concert and there was 65 thousand at the Leinster final so they were taking the hit no matter what. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 26/08/2014 12:20:44 1642184 Link 0 |

Kerry's jersey posses a physiological edge when opponents are faced with, maybe its only a small edge but it counts a lot in tight contests. Why do France always try and insist on All Blacks changing to their away strip when they play in World Cups for example? And if you don't think our jersey posses it, you need only look at championship records between my own and yours over last 50 years! TheHermit - Mayo also changed their Jersey to the red version. Also Il have a bet with you that Mayo fans outnumber ye again on sat. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11237 - 26/08/2014 12:57:40 1642209 Link 0 |
