oh so hill 16 is the preserve of dublin supporters now???...and i thought i had heard it all!....its an absolute disgrace that we are moving this game down to limerick...would the GAA move a donegal dublin replay to clones??...i think we know the answer to that..once again we roll over and have our belly tickled with the yankee dollar dangled in front of us..we should not be selling ourselves out for the sake of some pathetic two bit sport..time to put a stop to this madness now

"ye had no problem standing on the terrace of hill16 last september at the expense of dublin supporters "
Here we go again. Do Dubs think that we (the fans) requested hill tickets for last year. The county board were given an allocation and such was the scramble for tickets that we had no choice but to take what we were given from our clubs, I would have gladly sat in any stand for last years final or I would have sat on roof of stand if that where ticket was for, ye have this mentality that we purposely got hill tickets to stop ye getting them.
Build a bridge and get over it!!!

It's not a suitable venue . There were 53,000 in Croke Park yesterday . The capacity of The Gaelic Grounds is 44,000. That's 9,000 less than attended yesterday . I was in Croke Park , there was a terrific atmosphere.

2towinjustonce - You should be happy that the forecast is for rain as that should suit Mayo and a smaller pitch should also suit you.All you need is win just once and you did not manage to do that in Croke Park.

Capacity of the Gaelic grounds is 49,866 , I know people are coming up with figures to suit their various agendas, but that's the capacity.

25/08/2014 14:06:32 aidan1000 Does anyone know for sure if sky sports are going to be showing this game or will it be on network 2 seeing as it a replay Sky will show it as will RTE I imagine. Don't see why Sky wont show it 25/08/2014 14:40:05 WildPundit Ormondbannerman American football players are being catered for above our GAA players. Why they did schedule a match in Croke Park during our GAA season ending calender leaving little or no consideration that a football/hurling match would end in a draw ? How is that not a laughable work of art? There are people sitting in Croke Park getting paid money, the money you pay going to a match and this is how they treat their patrons & players? Fair enough the GAA had it scheduled in but without due consideration in my view. I don't believe for a second they gave it any consideration at all. you only have to look at the way our inter-county calender is fixed anyway and realize its a joke. One joke on top of another. The GAA hierarchy in my view cannot plan a season.American Footballers are not being catered for ahead of anyone. If this had been decided yesterday would there be complaints about American Footballers being catered ahead of anyone. What is laughable is the over reaction of some people here. The GAA probably should have handled this better and saying no replays would have meant this wouldn't have happened. Having less replays would be better in overall scheme of things as it means less weekends used up for games and more rest etc What would you do about planning a season if you think GAA hierarchy cant plan a season? 2/08/2014 14:40:05 WildPundit Have no problem with other sports, concerts or events taking place in Croke Park but surely there are project managers hired & paid who have experience in this field and to say that they planned an American football match the week after an AI Semi final not giving it due attention that it may end as a draw but then to also fit in the other semi final the day after the American football game and another poster rightly stated about the state of the pitch might be a concern Sunday. Ddon't have an issue with Limerick getting the replay either I'm only 15 minutes from Limerick and will be a great spectacle im sure for the city but the reality is another sport has got in ahead of our own and people will not take that too fondly. Its begs the point which was bought up in the minor championship forum that why are those games going to extra time to be decided and a senior game cant. American football doesn't usually cause much damage to a pitch but at same time is usually played on artificial pitches at top level in the US. Another sport has not got in ahead of our own. Another sport is being played as it was scheduled to be and this wouldn't be getting discussed if GAA had simply said for this year no replays and all games decided by extra time or something like that
25/08/2014 15:11:11 hill16no1man Ormond you said it wuld be disrespectful to the hurlers to play the replay the day before the all ireland hurling final well if our match with donegal ends in a draw the replay will take place that day its been stated shame that could happen.... 25/08/2014 15:16:54 fainleog Thurles dosent have the access roads that Limerick have, far more travel time and consequently smaller crowd. +1 25/08/2014 15:35:38 fainleog Your problem Hill 16 is that you do not want any games played outside of Dublin. I think this is a suitable game to be played outside of Dublin and it is obvious that there will be a far better atmosphere in a full Gaelic Grounds than a half empthy Croke Park. 1/2 agree with this...

My view on this is well 2 opinions really:
1. The players of both teams, 6 days turnaround for a semi final's and the fact they deserve to play in Croke Park. No fair at all on the players.
2. For us fans it's great, a new adventure down to Limerick. Probably head down early and stay overnight. There will be a full house and great atmosphere.
Note: I hope the tickets for this game don't go on general at least until all clubs and season ticket holders are looked after first.
Anyone up for trying to finish a game on the day? Would extra time yesterday have been such a bad thing?

ye had no problem standing on the terrace of hill16 last september at the expense of dublin supporters
Half the fun for us culchies in gong to the hill is the knowledge that some poor Dub has had to fork out extra money to sit in Culchieland otherwise known as the Davin.
It adds hugely to our enjoyment of the day.

not at all but ye didnt use the terrace last year for quarters or semi finals then used an excuse that you deserve half the tickets becuase its unfair price wise but the hill is cheaper for all your championship matches but ye dont seem to have a problem paying full price for them? plus it was a mayo poster who stated that the gaa was selling ye short becuase ye will be forced to have to stand in the gaelic grounds terraces. like i said im all for the replay being on the day before the hurling final in croke park

Greengrass - The GAA have said that they would not expect a crowd in excess of 40,000 for a replay on a Saturday evening, so I believe Limerick is a more attractive venue for this replay and will save most supporters considerable time and money.

if you believe that then you are gullible! there was a facebook campaign even started up to take over the hill by mayo fans plus all the returns from other countys went to mayo county board the hill and nally holds 13 thousand dublin had 5 thousand between parnell pass and hill16 season ticket holders and the county board got a misserable 1,500 terrace tickets

yes that is the capacity of the stadium but health and safety reduced it to 45 thousand if the gaa have any brains they will put in the extra few bars on the terraces to allow it hold another 5 thousand. you would have to think ireland has gone health and safety mad i watched the womens rugby world cup match and they were sitting on grass behind the goals also at the mens rugby world cup in new zealand they were standing on grass banks behind the goals yet in ireland your not allowed stand on grass behind the goals in navan and they lower capacity for big games for having not enough bars on the terrace madness!

i'm not having a go at limerick it could be Castlebar or Killarney or Cork or galway the point is AI semi finals should be played in croke park, these are big match days and croker is the only stadium in the country set up properly to deal with crowds of 50k+. in any of the towns named above the following would be a problem, (sell out - some people will be disappointed) / traffic / parking /accommodation / volume of people etc etc
BTW we had a good crack at winning with 14 players

A facebook campaign.......somebody call up 999 and arrest the campaigners straight away. So what if tickets came to Mayo County Board, take that up with Croke Park or whoever sent them the tickets. We didn't print the tickets or break in and rob the tickets off the Dubs so don't get your point about being annoyed by Mayo fans on the hill, if it was the other way around would you not take any ticket you were given if you had no choice???

there only saying that now to cover up the fact they got caught with their pants down on this. look at it this way there was 52 thousand there yesterday despite a rail strike happening with the game being a cracker and no rail strike your likely to at least add 5 thousand to the attendance from yesterday. plus there will be far more kerry supporters travelling to limerick than dublin meaning the crowd will probabaly be close to being even, meaning mayo supporters will lose out

the facebook campaign proves your initail point that mayo didnt want hill tickets as wrong so no need to be smart about it. thats who people are laying the blame with the gaa not the mayo county board why so defensive its not a conspiracy theory its fact. no id rather sit at home then sit in the stand only ever go to terraces, hate sitting at matches had to do it when they were rebuilding the hill during the 2004 season and would have been better off sitting at home i felt. hence i have a parnell pass which guarantees me a terrace ticket to all dublins matches in football and hurling in all grounds
