Donegal v Dublin

Listening to Tony McEntee. Bit sad to hear such a great player hoping that a team can beat another team through pure negativity. Not going to happen anyway.

See the game is a sellout so should be a great day.
Great for our minors to play in front of such a big crowd , it will stand them in good stead for the final when a similar crowd will be in CP Give them a chance to get used to a big crowd.

Will be some occasion when the two senior teams will arrive on the pitch. Will be some noise and if Dublin play football with us should be a great occasion.

Bit sad to see fellas still confusing good defence with negativity, pure or otherwise.

When Ali beat Foreman using the "rope a dope" strategy it was & still is regarded as one of the greatest displays of boxing ever seen.

When Irish rugby teams keep opponents from scoring though camped on their line for ages we cheer loudly.

In basketball everyone is expected to "get behind the ball when defending & in American football there are two distinct squads one for offence & one for defence. Both are highly regarded.

Only in GAA is defending seen as something to sneer at.

Immature & sad.

Playing football is all we know how to do Sam, with this current team anyway. We will live or die by it but sure isn't that the name of the game anyway and if we die by it we will die honourably playing the game the way it's meant to be played.

Safe travelling on Sunday.

and to think a donegal man started a thread labelling dubs arrogant
your last 2 posts could come back to haunt you if dublin win both matches

Looking forward to the game now. I think Donegal could well surprise a lot of people who think this will be a total cakewalk! Having said that I also said the same about Meath and the Leinster final and look how that turned out!

Muckrosshead,

It's a fair point. But it's a relatively new concept, in time, if teams persist with it, it will become part of the acceptable norm and will be just considered another formation like what our soccer friends have.

Muckcross, I was referring to McEntee's prescription for what Donegal should do, not what Donegal WILL do! All he seemed to be talking about was time wasting and aggravating Dublin players!

I think Tony is still sore about Vinnies bating them a few years back :-)

I see The Dubs are drifting in the betting. PP are now offering 1/8 out from 1/10.

They're starting to crumble even before the ball is thrown in.

Last post now as I must head for the skies and should be in Dublin this afternoon. So must wish the two Donegal teams well and as ever we hope for the best. To all Donegal fans hope we have some weekend and to people from outside counties who support Donegal thanks and hope you enjoy Sunday.

To all Dublin fans( it's not World war 3) hope you all have an enjoyable day , it's great to be in among you all and it's great for our teams to be playing Dublin , especially as Dublin football is so strong at present. Best of luck to everyone one.

Not a whisper from the camp. Very low key vibe on the ground in donegal. Perfect.

Good luck to the lads, and to the minors. Anyone who is in dublin early, skip the pub and go and support the future of our senior team. I think they deserve it, and they are a seriously talented outfit too.

Cant see us beating the dubs tomorrow, but I can see the lads giving it the big one. Will be staying to the end one way or another.

I'd also encourage all the Donegal fans to get in early and support the minor team, there is very little hype up here but among fellas who really know football there is a strong feeling the Dubs are gonna be ambushed,it's set up perfectly for it, an over confident and over hyped Dublin team, reminds me of how the english soccer team get hyped up by their own media before any soccer tournament, now that's not the fault of the Dublin players, but their are a few of them who court the media.
So get in early and give plenty of support to our teams, the atmosphere will be electric, lets hope for a good fair competitive game, I hope the ref has a good game and doesn't give Dubin every soft free going like was done in 2011,we all know the GAA hierarchy want the Dubs in the final, just ref the game fair and let the players win it themselves if they are able without getting 5 or 6 soft frees handed to them.
CMON DONEGAL!!!

English soccer team! We have 24 senior football All Irelands. England have one World Cup. Donegal have two All Irelands. Think about the more likely comparison :-)

looking forward till tomorrow and expect a serious donegal performnce.over the years we have been terrible favourites, but great underdogs.Mc guinness will have the seige mentality approach, bit like the forgotton county. There is no pressure tomorrow, and i fully expect a huge game from neil gallagher and co, only natural there could be few retirements after this campaign, and the lads will throw everything including the kitchen sink at the dubs, my only fear is that we can win tomorrow, but this game could be our all ireland final and we be caught badly in final.

and off coarse , not forgetting our minor team, who have the chance off getting to our first minor final, a huge day beckons, best off luck to delan bonner and his charges

Donegal haven't a hope in hell; the Dubs(like them or loath them)
are top drawer fabulous team; they will hockey Donegal tomorrow
by at least 8 points!
And hopefully then they will hockey Kerry in the obviously contrived
(judging by today's refereeing performance in Limerick) by top brass
'dream final'!

RE: TheGateKeeper

Like it or loath it Kerry won today because they used 'negative' tactics effectively throughout the game. This was plain for all to see but was glossed over by RTE and most likely will go untouched in the papers. All in all both teams were at it, but Kerry were better. Eamonn Fitzmaurice, has actively decided that this method is effective and could possibly win the AL because of it. Shrewd manger in my view.

"Dream Final" would suggest you think Kerry will try play total football against a probable Dublin team, why would they considering how they have played throughout the championship thus far. Unlike Tyrone, Kerry know what they are about; winning.

Wee Jimmy Mc has been going around telling anyone who'll listen to him up in Donegal that they're going to hammer the Dubs. Fair play to him, brave man. I think those words might come back to haunt him, his career could be on the line in this game. 15 men behind the ball for Donegal isn't going to be pretty to watch.

May the best team win.
