Posters are right about Corofin very good team and they have that U 21 player from '13 Ian Burke I love watching him play class act, Corofin v Vincents if they meet will be some game. One more thing how the hell are Galway senior team so bad with players like Burke Walsh etc or are they a coming team ? To much talent there not to be good.

Having good forwards has never been an issue for Galway its in defence where they have problems. Fitzgerald who must be 34 now had Cillan O Connor in his pocket today.

Are they not going to meet in the semi by any chance?

yeah ballyhale didnt even have to try hard today against crokes
they got two very poor goals from a crokes point of view
crokes missed three very good goal chances
but ballyhale had easily another two gears they could have gone up if it was needed

Why do people rate Cillian O'Connor so highly? Above Connolly!

When chips were down today, Dermie dragged Vinnies over the line. O'Connor, as with Mayo on numerous occasions, went missing.

Kilmallock v. Cratloe was up there with the drawn AIHF in terms of entertainment.
Cratloe must be gutted after losing two finals in the one year.

Dessie and his boys nearly did it for us!

If Garycastle had shown up at all in the first 20 mins then they'd have beaten Vinnies.

Better team on the day won but it could have been so different!

O Connor is 22 and still improving. Connolly is in his prime, he should be delivering every match. Watch O connor when he is in this prime and then you can make the comparison.

Question was why do they rate him higher not how good he is for his age. He is nowhere near Connolly's level, yes he may well be in 4/5 years but now he is not.
He is a good man to bag goals against the poor sides and rack up big scores from frees but for the time being he cannot be regarded as good as Connolly.

cannot agree there
if vincents had of bagged another one of the four goal chances they missed between the 20-25 minute
it would only have been a matter of how big the winning margin would be.
they are a far better team than garrycastle,
but did as they have done in all games this year switched off when they went so far ahead
they done it against tempelogue, ballyboden, plunketts, portlaoise and now garrycastle
a game where they dont get a big lead might actualy make them concentrate for the full 60 mins

Vinnies defence can be got at I think.

Totally destroyed at midfield from about 20 mins into the game. DJ Tricks 'n' Tracks and Murphy seem to fade away very easily in games.

Improvement needed methinks.

Agreed. Both clubs deserve so much credit for giving us that at the end of November. Hard luck Cratloe. However, in reflection they have had an amazing year. I would love one county medal in my life - never mind two in one year.

O Connor was kept in Kieran Fitzgeralds pocket all day yesterday. Kicked a few frees but that was it..

The criticism is a bit unfair on O'Connor although I don't rate him as highly as the Mayo crowd do.

I was very impressed with Corofin, they won that game very comfortably, some of the kick passing was superb. Their strong all over the pitch and their expected game with Vincents should be a cracker.

Ian Burke was outstanding but I'm not expecting big things from him this year from Galway. He's not blessed with great pace and he still looks like he's not the biggest physically so it could be another year before he makes an impact on the county scene.

Cillian O'Connor is brilliant.

He's only 22 or so. He could well develop into one of the greats.

Agree he is very good for a man of his age, but the word could sums it up. He is not yet great, IMO Connolly is a great player. That's all, I have no doubts that O'Connor will develop into a super player but that will be in a few years. Right now he is a good score getter from dead balls and against weaker opposition.
With experience he will develop and do it against the big boys I am sure.

Should Vins get past Rhode I would imagine the winner will be from the Vins v Corofin game. 2 brilliant club teams.

The hurling was fantastic. One of the best games all year.Kilmallock showed great courage in adversity-when they were reduced to 14-to eventually grind Cratloe down in extra time. Two top teams, going hell for leather, with scores aplenty.Cratloe have had a great year. They may not feel like that today, but time is a healer, and what they have achieved is remarkable.Kilmallock have won two big games now(county final v Na Piarsaigh and yesterday) when reduced to 14 men for long periods.A good sign of their fitness and mental resolve. They will take beating.

Would any Galway posters know how many of this Corofin team are sons of the team that won the All-Ireland in 98? I presume one of the Burke's or Silke's are?
