Mayo v Kerry

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Really hope the minors can dethrone the All Ireland champions and make the final, it will their first appearance in it since 2006 if memory serves. I think a lot of people down here are more desperate for minors to win the title than the seniors. Hope all the work and investment in the set up by CB and Jack will pay off this year.

I think Kerry will just about shade it v Mayo on Sunday. Dublin to beat Donegal in the other semi final.

Think Mayo will win this as still believe we are the second best team in the country slightly behind Dublin. For me Kerry have some classy players but we have the better more settled team. This bunch have been together now for a few years and have improved year on year which will stand to us on the day. Also this year we have been on an upward curve since game one with management trying to get the team to peak late in the year rather than peaking to try and get to the business end. Really don't think we've seen the best from this Mayo team yet this year, hopefully we will see more v Kerry and see the best in the final. Our time has come!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for the game, Mayo will be up for it, if Kerry cough up as much possession as they did against Galway could be a tough afternoon for them. They will miss the two trick pony Gooch!

I think the bookies have just about right, I'll go with them, but as the odds suggest, no foregone conclusion whatsoever!

Interesting statistic. If Mayo were to reach the final and get beaten again they will become only one of three teams to lose three consecutive finals; Galway 1940-42 and London in the early 1900s.

On that cheerful note..... :-)

GreenandRed

Speaking of positivity. Myself and wife and child are off to London on the morning of the match. If any of ye could arrange an ash cloud for about 8 the morning of the match I'd be more than grateful!

Right GreenandRed - made a trip over to Iceland there a couple of days back and dropped a wee ticking package in to one of the volcanoes - chose Bardarbunga as the name amused me. Anyway, you'll have to sit back and wait to see if it has the desired effect:

The weather could have a bearing Mayo did not play well in the rain in Roscommon - will be very tough but here's hoping the Minors & Seniors come thru Maigheo Abu

I think the battle between Higgins and JOD will be a telling factor.
Mayo I feel have the best set of 6 defenders country but they lack the shooting power up top. To really put fear into the opposition.
Where as with Kerry their 2 man full forward line is a joy to behold when on song but maybe lack around the middle of the park.

It's an intriguing battle as is the other semi.
I have a sneaky feeling about a Dublin v Kerry final.

Kerry to bag a couple of first half goals and make Mayo chase the game a bit leaving more space for JOD to rack up another big score.

The silver medal match, Mayo should win, but Kerry have a chance, hoping it will be a close game and if Mayo win they have it all to do to beat the Dubs in the final.

I see Tompkins has got personal with the Mayo team in the papers today. Bound to be used as a motivating factor this weekend. We all know Mayo can win semi-finals but I for one hope its Kerry who come through on Sunday as I think it will be a better final with them in it.

If there is one thing in Ireland which can't be used as an excuse for any team it is the weather. Jaysus its not as if we are living in the tropics and used to good weather - sure Spring usually doesn't start til around the middle of July here.

Hard game to call this one,Mayo probably have the better team overall but I still can't shake the feeling that Kerry might do it on Sunday.
The weather forecast isn't great but hopefully we don't get rain like they got for the KK/Limerick game a couple of weeks ago. The championship hasn't been great so far but I think Sunday could well be kick start it with a classic.
