Murphy is probably one of those lefties who wishes he had been born in some kip of a mining town in Yorkshire where he could have followed Barnsley. Probably despises GAA along with other aspects of Irish culture.

Hurling Dub , that's the most uneducated comment you made since your populist historical account in relation to certain counties doing nothing at the beginning of the 20th century. You must be finished your PHD in history by now.

TBF, RTE Radio One are excellent for coverage of the national league.

Wow!this is fast turning into a totally paranoid episode.
Some people just begging to be victims of mad politicians with agendas against the GAA.

You are obsessed Right Stuff!

I don't think there was a shot fired in Donegal during the Tan War but I stand to be corrected :-)

On the six 1 news on Friday 20th Feb a long lengthy article about a penalty dispute in a Liverpool soccer game,a interview with the manager who really had nothing to say.

and then 5 seconds a bout the sigerson cup gaa results, it beggars belief.

not really dave. Not too many people, even in the GAA community, are worried about the sigerson cup.

Spot on Joncarter. I've never ever heard RTE even give out a score of the Collingwood Cup never mind show highlights so why should it be any different for GAA? Some lads would want to seriously remove the chip from their shoulder.

Yes Hurling Dub , you are factually wrong , some counties participated more than others due to certain reasons ie : location , leadership etc. I'd know my topic but I'll I'll leave it there rather than allude to the Pale or Red Hugh , Irish history is not all about 1919-1921!

I've always felt RTE Radio 1 has been excellent for GAA coverage ! There is a neglect of GAA coverage on RTE overall , there should be a people Thursday/ Friday night preview (60-90 ) mins , and another review on Monday night ( not just highlights ) .

There was more at the sigerson cup yesterday than there is for an ail rugby match so that tells you what rugby people think of there club game

Right Stuff, my original comment from way back was in reaction to some silly comment about 'jackeens'. I was responding in kind rather than attempting to make some great historical point! Of course Donegal has a proud history. As do all counties. Except Laois maybe ..... :-)

I do agree with you about RTE radio sport on Sunday which is generally good and has updates from all games. It is the constant highlighting of EPL on week day sports radio and TV reports that annoys me. BUt I am easily annoyed :-)

Ok Hurlingdub , I was reading over all the messages and it seems you were wrongly provoked alright . Id agree alright on your last post.

Ormondbannerman - I am simply asking out of curiosity but are you a GAA fan at all ? I aint being smart but I find it kind of sad if you are immersing yourself in another sporting forum just to annoy people . Its just question Ormond ?

Of course I am. I go to as many Tipperary and my club "XXXXXXXXXXX" games as possible but as I am so centrally involved in rugby I can only go to a few games involving my club and county every year
I didn't join here to annoy people fair from it.

have to say tg4 questioning today was terrible
they asked eamonn o shea before the game a question about him saying his team had no character last week
to which he let them know he clearly never said anything of that sort at all
then after the dublin cats game they said to treacy you must have been dissapointed to see kilkenny get a man sent off
he must have thought it was a joke question as he laughed at first before noticing he was actualy serious

And so it begins. Another week of unrelenting media hype ahead of the Ireland England rugby union match. In spite of the fact that the Wales and France team coaches have admitted the 6N is just a warm up for the Rugby Union World Cup we are still being fed the belief that it is of vital importance. To who? Whether Ireland win or lose the media will be telling us on Monday that the next game is what matters now. And so the hype moves on. We even have so-called football supporters buying into the hype by suggesting that the times of all Sunday's NFL games should be changed to facilitate a warm up game. In England the soccer authorities have fixed 2 important matches for Sunday afternoon. They don't let rugby union hype overshadow their games. Why should we?

Good point about the EPL mediaman. Indeed the lower soccer leagues play matches at same time as European Champions League as do lower rugby leagues vis a vis big club games and even internationals. There were pro 12 games on the Saturday and Sunday of last internationals, some at same time. Some people in this country think that if something is not on TV then it is not real, and we accuse the English and others of being divorced from local realities!
