'30,000 is a great crowd'

That's it. A home quarter-final is even a great carrot for winning your provincial title. If a qualifier county is to take a provincial champions place in the semi-finals, I've always been of a firm belief that they should go to the home of the provincial champion to earn it. As I say, '06 - Kerry should have travelled to Armagh. '12 - should have travelled to Donegal.

Is it 30,000 full or 50,000 empty! Says more surely about the state and draw of football rather than the geographic location of a venue. If the point of the thread is to make a case for the games to be played in the west and south its a poor argument. You can't anticipate what teams are going to make it to finals, particularly poorly supported ones - the luck of the draw.

I also seem to remember Kerry not wanting to travel to Aughrim for a qualifier one year, and they got their way. Poor show.

Giving home advantage to the provincial winners sounds a good idea. But it does not solve the total inequity of the provinces. The provinces,as they stand are dead.Clare,Limerick and Waterford have won the sum total of 4 Munster Finals,Tipps last in 1935 so either Kerry/Cork would have home advantage in quarter final nearly every year.Dublin are dominant in Leinster now but there is a strong tradition in Meath,Offaly,Kildare,Louth,Longford,Westmeath,Wexford with a fair sprinkling of success in most.Ulster is a minefield.Provinces have to change.

The crowd doesn't really say anything about the state and raw of football.the entertainment value hasn't halved in one year and remember 30'000 is the same as attended the hurling quarter finals last year and more than attended the football quarter finals in 2011.

Its just unfortunate that the 4 sides in tomorrows quarter finals are from the south and west coast of the country and that 2 of the 4 teams are renowned for having fairly poor support

Good crowd or not, having 30 000 people in an 82 000 seater stadium looks awful. Well be able to hear peoples individual remarks from the stands.

I think that teams who win their provincial championships should be given home advantage for the quarter final. This thing about how every player wants to play in croke park doesn't impress me. Every player wants an all Ireland medal, are the GAA going to start handing them out to everyone (political correctness hasnt gone that far yet has it?). Besides, theres nothing special about playing in a 2/3 empty stadium, whatever the stadium.

just asking a question is all...have you attended many of galways matches in either code this season?...tough to get a crowd when people from the county dont attend

You probably don't travel home that often Fabii, for games yourself for whatever county you're from. Are you signed up to GAAgo or do you watch the games in an Irish bar over there? I used to watch games on Streampro in 2011 and 2012 until they were shut down :-(
