This one goes back a fair few years ago. A friend of mine from college who is from Cavan was boasting away about how he'd levelled big John McDermott from Meath in a challenge game. He reckoned he just met him square on with a shoulder and put him in a heap. Needless to say we were a wee bit sceptical but played along anyway.

About a month after that a few of us were in Edinburgh for a stag when who did we meet only Trevor Giles and big John in some bar. Our mate went noticeably quiet while one of the lads inevitably asked McDermott if the shoulder story was true. Of course it was all bullshit and we all got a right good laugh out of it.

I forgot to add that Mickey Harte gave speeches at my secondary school, he brought the sam maguire tropy along as well. it was a welcome visit as I hadn't seen the trophy since I was a toddler.
