Galway v Kerry

Mayo fans are a afraid of kerry. Pretty obvious. They know they always blow up against kerry. Easy to see why they are 'supporting' Galway.

I'm new to hogan stand but have learned two things. Thou shalt not question the beauty of Kerry football and thou shalt not post sarcastic comments. Kerry to beat Galway handy

Yerra IF, we both win tomorrow I doubt Mayo will blowing up against us in a semi. While I don't think Mayo will ever win an All Ireland now with this team, they are a very dangerous crowd in a semi final match.

Still, I think Cork might give them more of a game than people thing, all they have left at this stage is their pride, and like them or loath them (the latter myself!) one thing you can't deny is that Cork people have pride coming out their ears (as misplaced as it may be!).

But back to match in question, are Galway going to go man for man tomorrow? They can't seem to play to any system but can Mullholland really gamble that this team can beat Kerry in a shoot-out?? Hopefully it will be a good game, as will the Mayo v Cork. Championship needs a couple of quality matches to bring it to life. But personally, I'm not looking for a performance to bring the house down from Kerry tomorrow. I just want them to be functional and do enough to win. Best to keep the powder dry for bigger tests to come, if they can manage it.

Mayo thou not a win an ireland either.

I got it wrong.makes more sense for mayo to beat kerry...then blow up in the final.they usually beat a big gun in a semi then ...sure you know the rest yourselves...

Hard to argue with that

Great post man, I remember that game in 08 like it was yesterday , the heat was sweltering walking to crokepark and during the Wexford Armagh game, then about 20 mins in to our game came the down pour, we were drowned to the jocks within 2 mins so there was no point moving just sit there and enjoy the class football on show , I remember they opened the top tier of the cusack in the second half for us , I was originally behind the goals that day and I remember Declan hitting the upright with a rasper you could hear the ding off it, anyway I hope for more of the same tomorrow but without the rain :-) and there is an orange warning in place ir so iv heard, an Riocht Abu.

"A quarter-final against Galway is far from the toughest route to the last four. You couldn't send away for a draw like that, to be honest," wrote Darragh O Se

Kerry feel that they just have to turn up for this one and its in the bag, based on Dara's comment above!

Kerry optimism is understandable. However, they had Cavan last year and they got a massive first half lead, something Galway will have to avoid. Galway forwards are a real threat to Kerry imo.

The video of Tadhg Kennelly elbowing Murphy? in the 09 final vs. Cork could serve to wake up this Galway team who tend to be naive when playing hard hitting teams.

You must have been close enough to me so that day Kingdomboy. Was sitting in the Canal end myself and nearly ducked in my seat when Declan let fly, though that shot would crack the goal posts it was that powerful. Thankfully I was sitting a few seats under the covered section so didn't need to move when the heavens opened.

The Wexford v Armagh match was a decent game too although poor old Francie got an awful roasting from Mattie Forde that day. Sad way to see such a great paper bow out.

The rain last night was brining back memories of 2008, ended up being given 2 tickets for the premium level. Great match between Kildare and Monaghan, pity the Lillywhites couldn't pull it off by the end I was cheering them on. Hopefully Galway won't be showing that spirit, UP D KINGDOM!

1627256 Given the great history between Kerry and Galway, I would never take their challenge lightly.

I was there in 2008, the last time we crossed paths. What a wonderful and surreal game that was, the lights dazzling us as the heavens heaved forth what seemed like all the water in the world and yet those 30 men on the pitch waltzed while most of us ran for shelter! I hazard a guess that only Kerry and Galway, with wonderful their traditions of producing such wonderfully skilful players, could have produced a spectacle like that.

I distinctly remember a young Michael Meehan tormenting our full back line until a certain Daniel Bohane was sprung from the bench and managed to reel him in. I left the game thinking I had given witness to the emergence of two truly great players, but sport is so terribly cruel.

That was one of the most memorable matches I've ever seen. Galway and Kerry both played fantastically and they had to battle the elements as well. Today I would say Kerry will win as they seem to have a good mix of veteran and younger players.

Oh dear. Has either team brought ANY fans with them? You could hear a pin drop in Croker. No atmosphere.

Sad to see a great footballing county like Kerry playing with a blanket defence.
