Not even the club championships are safe or indeed the finals on St. Patricks's day. Sky even has exclusive rights to any to their apropiate Replays
Don't go into hyperbole.. Why would Sky go for club championship games? Nowhere near enough interest or potential to earn from showing them

Its mad ive lost so mush interest in gaa this year its unreal ,because were so much out of the loop now ,this could come back to kick the gaa in the ass and proper order if people do loose interest, there excuse was to let the people that have left the country see the games ,which is so not the case now ,anyone abroad could watch RTE online ,all the GAA have done was taking away the games from the people that helped build the organisation and that still lives in Ireland ,these days anyone who has or had sky are getting rid in aim to bring down there monthly bills - and a sky package with sports is nothing more than a rip off (from sky themselves)so i hope the ordinary people that's still in the country takes count of what the gaa has done here and hit them back where it hurts (and we all know where that is )maybe its time to move on and have new interests of a weekend now .
How are you out of the loop so much? Anyone abroad couldn't watch RTE online as many games were not available outside of Ireland. Games haven't been taken away from those that built the organisation.
Jeez talk about clichés and spelling errors...

Freetaker I got one of those 4.90€ subs job on my Lap-Top here in Carlow Town. It was an absolute disaster with picture freezing up every minute and I certainly would not recommend it to my worst enemy.
Really? Most streams online work fine for me.. is better than nothing

Really have to laugh at these boys stuck in the dark ages;
the days of huddling around the wireless are over baby!

The monopoly is being broken. Newstalk is the best radio
coverage of GAA and sport in general for that matter; and
SKY leads the way now in televised GAA coverage.

Give me positve Pete over pessimistic Pat anyday.

I've been left to listen to this on radio as I refuse to line Murdoch's pockets. Only problem is Joe Brolly, co-commentator. He's rambling on as if he was watching the game on tv.

I tried to give Sky my money but for some stupid reason they wont allow you to use a 'rooted' android device.

Watching this illegally, not sure what the hype about Sky coverage is. Pretty lame, can't stand the commentator, he's from Newstalk right? - awful speaking voice. The "panel" was second rate TV3 and that is saying something, and did I miss the graphics!! What was that UFO flying across the screen every replay, Uncle Sam's on mars? In HD! Come on folks, GAA had a packed house, GAA is getting a packet from Sky for this.

I actually like that Newstalk commentator (can't think of his name), he's a lot better than Morrissey IMO opinion but I like Canning and Maloney. As for panellists, I'm blue in the face saying it = who cares, not important.

The coverage is underwhelming, but I don't listen to analysis anyway, mute it and make a coffee, 10 mins of reading my book!

One thing I noticed the last 3 weekends though is that Sky have an awful habit of showing replays too long and missing restarts, particularly kick outs, e.g. at the end of 1st game today when Ard Mhacha were seeking an equalizer they missed a crucial one, but has been going on consistently.

Am I the only one seeing this? Maybe I'm paranoid:)

I noticed this too with them showing replays for too long, its very frustrating especially when its a tight game like today.

Whats the issue with paying for sky?

Where did I imply you said a lie? Yes some streams are not great but there is always several streams and you will always find one that's somewhat watchable

OK Ormond no problem
It is just that I was very disappointed with the coverage which I honestly thought should be much better.I acknowledge that you did not accuse me of lying even by implication.

Ormondbannerman, That's not a statement just an opinion, but to answer your question just look at the quality of games put on show this year, the lob sided results, massive scores chalked up against a paltry few points.

The chances of getting similar results in inter county club games are few and far between, and please don't bench mark the Donegal/Armagh game last night, I could easily use the Dublin/Monaghan game as a bench mark too along with many others.
The above post does not come into the hyperbole category.

I can see Sky insisting on a 12 team premier league style competition in a few years where all the top teams play each other week in, week out. They aren't interested in the likes of my own county, Carlow, Westmeath, Waterford etc just to name a few...
Money talks and if they want that to happen, it will in my opinion.

Why wouldn't Sky have exclusive rights to replays of games they've paid rights for....
Sky wouldn't have interest in getting club games as they are too small and not enough market for them

Sky have been unlucky with the games they got in that a considerable few were non events and 1 side totally dominated. Hard to say how sky will feel with how year went. There is no chance of Sky looking for club games. There isn't enough interest in club games for them to get enough viewers to make it worthwhile

Less Irish people are now watching our sports.

FACT.

putting FACT in capital letters doesn't make it true. I'd imagine its the opposite, with great availability for the Irish in the UK and Australia. I challenge you to find me one Irish person who watched a GAA match on television last year but not this year.

Lots of people in the UK who watched GAA for 10 pounds a month last year are now unable to watch the games that are non SKY as they dont havesky sports.

That's never going to happen and Sky wouldn't be able to make it happen. Sky are interested in getting viewers in and do care about Waterfords etc as there's plenty of people there who can get subscriptions to Sky....

That's your opinion but surely Dublin playing Kerry,Cork,Mayo and Tyrone etc week in week out would generate more viewers than Clare playing Waterford in the Munster 1st round! No??

It would but Sky cant force a competition on anyone and the only way such a competition shown by Sky would happen is if some counties were to break away from the GAA and that isn't going to happen...

Some of the posts on this thread are brilliant.

Really feel for the poor lad that has lost interest in the GAA since sky started showing a few games, he is totally out of the loop now, there must be thousands like him all over the country!

Doesn't even bother going to club games anymore he feels so isolated by this new deal!

Who cares about Sky? - really and truly, they will never be able to dictate games or schedules. Why would anyone who already pays for UPC pay extra to watch a few summer matches? There is no difference to me in what say TV3 or Setanta offered and what Sky do, the commentary is woeful. Some subscribers on here maybe are justifying their investments in this product. Its currently for the GAA a win/win, and that is the way it should stay, Sky is a cash cow that has to be milked dry.
