Wish Clare could pull off a shock today would have really got the publics attention and added a lot to the Championship. Tipperary winning next year would make up for that and more would love to see these very good Tipp footballers in Croke Park

Not one word from daytona after an impressive win v Down of course. You must have hated it.
I'd hate to as miserable an individual as you are.

Daytona you weren't even at the game obviously, so how can you say we were muck in all areas, find it hard to believe you are a Kildare supporter.
Credit to Clare they can count themselves unlucky not to bring the game to extra time at least. It took everything we had to get the win. Clare started the game at great pace and were unlucky not to create a couple of goal scoring chances early on but for some last ditch defending. Our defence really kept us in the game as Clare had 70% possession and were making all the running. I don't think we changed to a defensive system as some are saying, rather we went man to man and with Clare dominating possession and pushing forward it ended up with a lot of players back in our half. The Clare no8 Brennan was the best midfielder on the pitch and was very influential, We played some very poor stuff in 1st half when we had the ball (and playing with the wind) with Kelly and Callaghan giving the ball away alot.

From 45 mins on we really upped the pace and ran at Clare, we used possession well mostly at this stage, came off the shoulder at pace to open up a very packed defence and kicked real quality scores from callaghan, Smith and oflaherty.

If we are to have any chance the next day we need to improve on our midfield performance bigtime, including kickout strategy.
The pluses on the day were the performances of Lyons, Fitzpatrick, Smith and a return to form from OFlaherty when he came on, and the determination shown to come back from the dead and get the last 7 scores

Our full back line has improved drastically since Fitzpatrick has come in other. Our midfield was cleaned out yesterday. Smithy and O'Flaherty were the only forwards to play well. Clare played the opening 45 minutes at 100 mph it was always going to be hard for them to sustain that. If we make a couple of changes and go in with the right attitude we are definitely capable of beating Donegal/Monaghan

Wasn't at the game but it seems Gary Brennan stood out no surprise really top midfielder and would get on most county teams in the country. At one stage Clare led 12 to 6 which means Kildare kicked the last seven points and Clare didn't score for the last 27 minutes. I see Clare had put in a huge effort at this point and Kildare had player's like O Flaherty to come in off the bench to make a difference. The fact that Kildare play at a higher level in the league and have the greater championship experience was referred to on Clare Fm as a reason on how the last quarter went. This would be a fair point. Near the end in the purple patch for Kildare Clare brought on Eoin Cleary, Martin O Leary and Podge McMahon would the introduction of the likes of Cathal McInerney and Conor McGrath have had a greater impact?
