AI Hurling Quarter Finals

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The 2 games went as I predicted - result wise, and feared - performance wise.

Both Wexford and Dublin were outclassed on the day.
Tipp and Limerick were just too good.

Semi Finals look interesting and hopefully two great games in prospect.

I will stick with my prediction of a Cork v Cats Final.

But both semi's look tasty enough to be honest.

Hoover78 best of luck to you now. I suspect our full back line will come under the spotlight over the winter for certain. In fairness to them they have been solid all year but Rossiter wasnt fit I didnt think and is getting old, Ryan is young, O'Hanlon gets exposed by pacey forwards.
But it's a young team. We will be back.

Agreed pinkie, think that back line were taken apart by the pace of Limerick. I don't think you could use the excuse for tired legs there Limerick were just too quick up front for our boys. They were devastating and best of luck to them for the games ahead.
Just hope you guys don't stumble again.
To put it in perspective for Wexford I don't believe we could have played any worse but I think that was all down to the intensity Limerick brought into the game. They just harried and blocked and chased from start to finish. We had no response.
Saying that the likes of MacDonald, Chin, McGovern, Shore etc.. didn't just become bad players over night they have learnt a valuable lesson and will bounce back. Think we all recognise that we have a few years and a few new additions to that team before we have a team to compete with the top 4 or 5 teams consistently. Think most of us knew it was always going to be a challenge to beat Limerick if they played at their best despite the good run we had in the lead up. I said it in the lead up to the game the only team that would beat Limerick on the day was themselves and they stood up to the challenge.

Let's hope they are tastier than what was on show yesterday. Very disappointing for Leinster hurling in general. All I was hoping for was another couple of good close games.

Sure was Nick, Wexford.

Reckon Wexford will do better than our Hurlers next year also.
Ye have done well this year and will only get better with the young talent you coming through.

why the aggression in your tone in yourreply to me?
You talk about no crowds wquld be at croke park for qtr finals. For your information any qtr finals that were at croke park were just as well attended as any at Semple stadium bar 2010. The qtr finals in 07 for Waterford vs Cork and Limerick vs Clare over 70000 were there so your point dosent hold stance. For Hurling to have a broader coverage for the people of Ireland geographically it should be played in Croke Park not down in Munster. If Yesterdays games had have been held there im sure nearly 60000 would have attended.

The most innocent of comments can lead to a meltdown of biblical proportions.

I would love to read some of the things that don't get through.

very poor days fair
probably the worst atmosphere i have ever seen in a near full house
(dont want to hear people ever whinging about 20-3- thousand crowds in croker not creating atmospheres again as i have seen far better atmosphere at league matches)
only one team played anyways good all day and that was limerick
some of the hurling was awful stuff
limerick alone stood out, wexford were poor.
our game with tipp was even worse as neither side played well and it was like a training match with no intensity
tipp deserved to win but the fact the game was in thurles made no differance at all sure you could hear people talking in the stands
it was that bad. we never got going at all it was like they never believed they could actually make a game of it from the throw in
too much talk all week from the hurlers in newspapers and media about backlash and other rubbish talk.
time they learned to focus on hurling only and stay away from the media.

You can't fault Tipp they went out and played it was just a dead atmosphere.guaranteed semi final will be 100 times more exciting.
Anyone see the pull across bubbles by d Dublin keeper after he scored d first goal?
Just seen it on the highlights thought I was seeing things. We didn't see d real Dublin play on Sunday some silly tackling and tactics maybe if they concentrated on the hurling it would have been a contest. When they did play a bit of hurling Dublin got some nice scores. IMO Daly shud give someone else a go. Perhaps Galway might take his services and it's closer to home.

didnt fault tipp
but didnt think they were good either just better than us on the day simple as.
they didnt hurl with any great intensity either they just had the better forwards who took their scores.
both games had terrible atmospheres. hurling matches just dont seem to have the same buzz about them as the football matches in general i always find.
ive never been a fan of daly but cant blame him last sunday
too much talking all week was done and not enough hurling

Would generally agree but even when the teams came out there was a subdued atmosphere that remained throughout

Sometimes you get days like that hill.Obviously the first game, although Limerick were fantastic, was over by half time,so bar the Limerick fans rejoicing, the other 3 counties fans and neutrals hadnt much to shout about.I think the crowd were expecting/hoping that the second game would be helter skelter and a thrill a minute, and when that failed to materialise the whole crowd went a little subdued.Just one of those days that fail to ignite. The two semi finals will make up for it.

Cuederocket u r a nice guy but a bit too susceptible to hype to be a good analyst.

How can anyone say Limerick were brilliant. The game was a no show and best consigned to the corner of the brain we seldom visit.

We have the wherewithall to beat KK and the other two. In fact the only team that will beat us now is ourselves. So level heads hard work and focus that what we want certainly dont want to rejoice over beating a team who had nothing done up to sunday to suggest they should win a QF
