Really impressive victory in Portlaoise against Laois this afternoon. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 12/07/2014 19:34:18 1617912 Link 0 |
Congratulations to tipp. Worthy winners. Cracking game. Laois showed great heart to draw level, but another black card when we had used all our subs was a killer, and we ran out of steam. Both teams tried to play attacking football though, and was so exciting. Mayo will beat Galway and so will tipp. Sligo will face cork automatically if mayo win Malonemagic (Laois) - Posts: 768 - 12/07/2014 19:41:58 1617923 Link 0 |

Farce of a system that Sligo will automatically face Cork if Mayo win. valley84 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1890 - 12/07/2014 20:19:43 1617962 Link 0 |
This is not about Sligo. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 12/07/2014 20:24:46 1617967 Link 0 |
The hurling bigot in me says that the growth of football in Tipp is a threat to hurling in one of the few counties left who can be a consistent threat to the rampant cats, but there is no question that the work being done there is remarkable and I think that other counties (maybe even my own) would do well to have a look at what is going on in Tipp and learn from it. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 12/07/2014 20:43:31 1617991 Link 0 |

great result for tipp against a decent laois. mind you malonemagic if we lose tomorrow not a certainty tipp will beat us. we are very different from that hammering in portlaoise earlier in the year and have a number of successful u21s starting tomorrow who played little in the league. still though good for the championship having open games like this. the main message here is that the work tipp have put in at underage is bearing fruit. bit like the rossies who had a convincing win in cavan. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1950 - 12/07/2014 21:02:56 1618010 Link 0 |
It's amazing how far a team has come in a short time. To get promoted two years running but to return down almost as quick, personally I lost some hope but seeing them against Longford the last day proved me wrong. There's plenty of quality players there. Surprisingly though to many, this team isn't backboned by that all Ireland minor winning team. It's the players from the 3-4 years before that as well as Colin O'riordan an 18 year old. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 12/07/2014 21:31:59 1618040 Link 0 |
Quarter-finals is the bar to get to be it provincial or qualifier route. It's the teams making provincial finals that Tipp have yet to beat. Congratulations on today. It's a fine win and definitely one of note. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7922 - 12/07/2014 21:41:32 1618046 Link 0 |

Well done Tipp and it's nice to see a team on the up. Another win would send them to CP for the Q's but the good work is paying dividend They would really need to win a Munster title in the next couple of years and if they could get to Div 2 it would be a big help. Hurling or no hurling Tipp supporters should get behind this football team. They deserve good support now. SamOnErrigal (Donegal) - Posts: 1427 - 13/07/2014 10:00:59 1618098 Link 0 |

A delight to be at this game ....the hurling was a let down after it for a change ...even in the sky box you could see Ollie canning Jamsey and Rachel turning around to see what was going on as they prepared for their coverage of the hurling game... On a separate note I hope this Tipp team keep their heads they won't have the 1000s supporting them that was their for there hurlers(it's probably biggest crowd in years at Tipp football game) because I think this laois team were dangerous and could have caused lots of problems for teams down the line..... The Tipperary football team is slowly but surely changing my whole outlook on Gaelic Football, As a north Tipperary man, Gaelic football may as well be a foreign sport in some respects with the amount of airtime it gets up north. I used to associate football with persistent fouling, low scores over use of the hand pass.I recently watched the Tipp footballers in action for the first time against Cork and then again versus Laois. They are a joy to watch, quick, skill full, attacking football with a purpose. They don't over do the hand pass and they are also very disciplined with little fouls conceded. The atmosphere in Moore Park on Saturday was fantastic and the hurling was a let down afterwards. I don't think Galway are going to be looking forward to taking us on in the next round. hurlinortoggin (Tipperary) - Posts: 30 - 14/07/2014 09:05:21 1618651 Link 0 |
It was a great win second time we knocked out Laois in as many years. They knocked us out in 2011 I think and we didnt put up a fight that day. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 14/07/2014 09:41:11 1618680 Link 0 |
