Galway v Mayo

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Hardly anyone had the tele'
It was a different kind of world
Heaven was a game of football
Before I ever kissed the girls
We used to go out driving
We'd travel near and far
Nearly every Sunday in me
Father's oul' ford car
He'd be pointing out the landmarks
Everywhere we'd go, through the
Twistings , turning , winding roads
Of Galway and Mayo

I wouldn't be writing off Galway just yet. I think it will be an interesting game as Mayo will be involved in a battle against a big rival and will have to display mental resolve to show that they can enter the All-Ireland series with genuine credentials to finally win Sam. If they don't put in a performance and win convincingly, it will put a massive dent in their hopes of ending the drought.

1612868 We'll never have the size, pick or money of the two "superpowers" of connacht anyway. I'll be at this final because our minors are playing and as a neutral I hope this mayo v Galway contest is a better game than the last two meetings I was at that were tbh truely woeful.

But yet ye can spend significant money on a stupid looking bus, Sponsorship money or not! It could of been put towards a makeover for Hyde Park for instance since it cant host a connacht final anymore!

Do Mayo posters feel there team is on the way back ?? From the outside , I would say they are not in decline . Mayo made last four of league and won a tricky away tie a few weeks back so what's the big fuss about ??? With an ok draw , I think they will be in last 4 or final again.

I suppose with Donegal and the Dublin Region on one side, the expectation is for Mayo to make another All-Ireland final.

Cannot wait. It's going to be tough, but we'll put it up to mayo a lot better than last year. I think if we play well and it all clicks well you just never know!!!

Mayo by 7points at least, physically Galway not there yet
Its not about having footballers as good as them or better forwards you must meet them physically
Beating sligo was no indicator of where Galway are at moment to say they are poor this year is been kind they got a almighty 21 point drubbing in a challenge a week after Galway game.
I would really love to see Galway beat them but I fear for them in castlebar.

Roscommon beat Galway in a Challenge game at the weekend 0-20 to 1-13. Anybody looking for indicators from a challenge are deluded though.

Pointers no agree yew tree
Physical conditioning yes and galway struggled to break the tackle in this challenge which indicates my fears in full blown championship

Galway win is very possible, Mayos performance v Roscommon was abysmal.

Liked the look of galway the last day out. I thought they had a lot up their sleeve. Whether tis will be enough is the big question, to beat mayo that is. I can see it happening, but it will require mayo to have a bad day at the office. I feel that Galway could just do it. I wouldnt put money on it though.

Have you forgot about Monaghan or even that old tea youse used to meet one time ::::::TYRONE.
Looking forward to seeing this game and want to see how Mayo perform. Fancied them at the start to give Sam a great go this year and I suppose if they are anywhere near their best @13/2 must be a bit of value in them for Sam. After last Sunday , well what I saw Mayo must be the best team left in that side of the draw. Now Ledgenzxix I think Kerry got it too easy and if Mayo are back to their best they can beat Kerry in an AI QF But will Mayo perform this year. It's hard to know what to make of Galway, I'd have thought that if they won Sunday they would class it as a fairly good year. Plus a Connaught title would do wonders for their young players.

Galway win is very possible, Mayos performance v Roscommon was abysmal.
They were as good as they were let as there running tactic from half back line was nulled by ros tactics
They were made resort to kicking long passes and trying to score from out of there comfort zone something they have struggled at for a long time its a tactc theyll most likely not meet again on that side of draw unless cork in quarter final implement it
Which would make for interesting viewing.
