Dublin v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

he 25 pages or so about the great Dublin/Meath rivalry which
is wheeled out every year is the great comedy of HS! LOL

The scoreline of...

Dubs 3-10
Meath 1-10

...would suggest otherwise that it is anything but a rivalry!

Dublin played well today; and did what they do; but they were up
against nothing! The next day will be different!

Dublin actually scored 3-20 so it wasn't quite as close as you thought. Kerry and Cork isn't a rivalry either if I use that logic?

Firstly congrats to Dublin no one can take away from that victory. Dublin were phenomenal. OK Meath didn't play to their potential had a good goal disallowed couldn't buy a free in first half while dubs got them very easily. On another day that might have been the difference between winning and loosing but not in this game dub are light years ahead of Meath. They are unbeatable. Fact. I have been lucky enough to see great Meath teams of 80s 90s offaly in 80s dubs 70s Down 90s and the 4 in row Kerry and non of them would get within 7 points of this current Dublin team. They are a freak of nature. Let me be the first to congratulate Dublin on retaining Sam it will happen no one no system will stop them. One final thing a thank you to a certain radio station upgrade to premium highlight a very disappointing day. We'llbbeat armagh but that's as far as we will go

To all the keyboard warriors I never bigged Meath up at all.. I thought Dublin would win by +7

However "meath didnt turn up" in regard to losing by 7 like last year then losing by 16....

So the worrying statistic is that was Meaths 4th final in 5 years..and obviously the second behind Dublin in Leinster. So very bleak fot the rest of Leinster

Royaldunne - its a bit early to be handing out congratulations for Sam. All Irelands aren't won in July when there is still a lot of football to be played.

Poor enough performance from the Dubs today in fairness.

Didn't need to play well though as Meath were simply awful.

Meath team had no fight at all. Armagh should win and win well.

Dublin absolutely destroyed Meath in every position and probably could have won by 30pts if they wanted. Worryingly for Meath it was one of the most lob sided matches I have seen in a long time. Think it's time for new ideas in Meath and for O'Dowd to go. Dublin 10 in a row anybody?

No team is unbeatable...Dublin are the best team in the country but that does not mean they can be caught on a given day. No competition in Leinster....Meath were very poor. Don't think Armagh will fear them.

Firstly congratulations to dublin it was a 10-10
masterclass and yous were awesome the win fully deserved! Secondly this is the bit were I get annoyed when other counties If meath are beaten on Sunday (which they won't) meath will have 1 more qualifier to go until quarter finals what weekend would them games be played? And what weekend do the quarter finals usually be? pooring in to have a pop at meath! Dublin were better we lost we are accepting of that and we were all hopeful of a win not delusional that we were just as good as dublin I for one seen nobody say that so leave it out! Secondly were back out again in two weeks time which is more than a lot of you can say! Meath were beaten by the better team but also had an awful day I believe they can play better than that and that's not an excuse it's my opinion doesn't mean I'm in denial.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Dublin are unbeatable this evening. Last week Meath could catch them according to some.

Living in the 80s.

Agree MesAmis. That's why I was saying it's hard to judge Dublin on the campaign so far as they haven't been tested. That's not to say they can't go out and do that in the next game or in whatever game's they still have in this years AI. Guess we'll get answers in the coming weeks.

No team is unbeatable but this Dublin team are very special, what gutted me is that I've never seen a Meath team roll over and be tickled, it happened today, but in fairness MOD sent us out to compete last year, this year we looked scared.

But sure look, we'll go from failure to failure but never lose enthusiasm!

Surprised Meath got overrun so much. Dublin go for it ike Kilkenny used to a few years ago. They don't target your weaknesses they target your strengths. Everything Meath did right against Kildare they just got absolutely devoured and flattened in today. It's tough.

It's tougher to decide what it says about the two teams. Those that have decided that Dublin are now the GAA's answer to the Harlem Globetrotters just based on today are as exaggerated as those who said Meath were annihilated while Dublin were in second gear. (I'd love to kill whoever introduced this concept of gears into sports analysis).

Dublin have done this before. They get their heads up and rack up a lot of scores in a very short period of time. The only thing unique about today is that they did it in a match that gets all the cliched overblown derby rival anything can happen on the day tradition tripe.
