Dublin v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Indeed RD

I would be worried about the stamina of some of our players, and Dublin are favorites, but the lads want to win silverware and will be looking to win this.media-hype about Dublin gets ignored by Meath, and Micko gets them in the right frame of mind.He has got Sean Boylan traits. Big worry is that Newman may not make it?

100% respect to Meath

Simple as that

Meath played very well yesterday and Gavin and co will need to address a number of things before the game

It's vital we don't give Meath that sort of room, you can see that when they are allowed to play... that they can play very well

This will be a good game, I have no doubt about that...

I think Meath can beat Dublin this year, or run them very close.

Everybody has been studying Dublin very closely since last season, looking for every tactical or physical weakness. That's why All Ireland champions find it difficult to retain titles.

Ziggy. That's the rumor. But personally think if it happened two weeks ago and it wasn't major strain he should make it hard to call. IMO no one really knows but we would need himback .

I agree I was very impressed with Meath yesterday for 50 minutes , if The Roc is left as isolated on Bray as he was yesterday on Lyung will be in serious trouble, I love the way we play but my god our we open at the back our only defender that wants to defend is Rory the rest are sprinting up the field all game. One plus is Meath's lack of fitness especially Shane O Rourke who completely ran out of juice yesterday, Meath's two most important players are Reilly at full back (he is outstanding) and Bray up front, whoever plays full forward for Dublin needs to pull Reilly out of his full back area so our other forwards can cause trouble in there and we somehow have to stop Bray it won't be easy.

Meath will try to do what we will be trying to do and that is drag the Full Back all over the place and leave huge spaces there.

ROC and Reilly will be given a tour of Croker I predict in the Final.

We have BB to come back in, which is great - but 2-15 (1-15 in the 2nd half alone) is a great score Without our Star forward, and 12 different scorers is impressive.

Looking forward to locking horns with meath in 3 weeks. We need to start well and not just play at a very high tempo for 35mins.

Here's is hoping we can put in a full 70min performance.

Hope meath have some of their injured players back as we need a good contest.

Would love to see Dublin against a blanket defence to see how it affects them , but one thing I wouldnt love to see is Dublin playing well for the full 70 minutes, not sure how the score would turn out haha,

I suspect that we've intentionally been playing within ourselves so far though.

I have to say, I got that impression myself, and Jim was definitely resting players late on and protecting others who had not played too much this year. He is exactly where he wanted to be and most of our injuries have cleared up.

I got the feeling from both Management and Players after the game that they really wanted to play meath in the Leinster Final this year, and will up it a notch or two in the process.
I can see us starting much better v meath, than we have started in our previous few games.

There is such a determination and focus from this group, you can really sense it.

I think Meath have been playing within themselves too, no point in showing the full hand before a Leinster Final v Dublin, it's like going for a fancy meal, don't gorge on the appetisers, Carlow & Kildare were the starters to the main course that is Dublin, no point beating about the bush or having an inferior complex when your playing Dublin. Were going in there to win and we will win, it's 15 good men against each other and we will be ready as will Dublin, I predict a cracking game to liven up what so far has been an uneventful championship

Dublin will win this at a canter.

Any team that tries to take Dublin on in an open game is going to be fed to the lions & Meath are next on the menu.

You mean any team that tries to play football???

Richie,

Are you trying to tell me that there is only one way to play football?

Where have you been for the last 20 years?

Meath our a defensive team, they know it's the only way to have any chance against Dublin.

Anybody know the replay arrangements?

I ask this because the loser is playing on the Aug bank holiday weekend. But croker park would be unavailable on the weekend in between? Could be a tricky one for the guys in hq......

In my opinion Meath will need another 5 goal blitz to beat Dublin, if it's a hot day I think it strengthens Dublin's hand even further , I just don't know how you can defensively prepare to face Dublin when for a start you don't know for sure who you will marking then if you do a good job on the player you're marking Gavin will send on a different forward who will be just as good if not better and have a range of different attributes coupled with a full tank of gas.

Of course every team is beatable but it ain't just a team it's a squad who's managed by a very astute and tactically aware man in Gavin.

20 years??? There are plenty of ways to play football, with emphasise on the words "play football"

I agree, reckon this will be one of the highest scoring games of the summer with 2 teams going for it. Meath have a very stronf full forward line that can exploit the space that Dublin vacate in around their last line of defence.
