Hurling qualifiers

You're having a laugh mate. You're going to be out of pocket if you expect Wexford to go down without a fight. I'd be more concerned with your own county. I'm expecting Kilkenny to emerge next weekend and give you an absolute lesson for taking their stuff

Not havin a laugh doyler.I take trying to win money very seriously indeed.I dont bet for fun,i bet to win.I never said Wexford would not fight hard.I feel they will get well beaten in Ennis.I also see Waterford beating Laois well.

My only concern with my county Doyler is whether well have enough room in our bulging trophy cabinet over the coming years. That silverware sure is bulky.

Anyone expecting us to hammer Wexford are wrong, but those of you writing Clare off and talking Wexford up. Well we will see. I guess talking should be done on the field.

A question for cuedrocket, have you a problem in that you feel like you have to invest every thread involving wexford to have a go and a wind up?

Surely there is enough going on with dublin from a positive point of view these days that should occupy your time rather than you spending time satisfying whatever primeval itch it is you have to wind other people up on here.

As for the qualifiers i said earlier that i can see home wins across the board and nothing has changed my mind on that. Home advantage is huge in games like this and the records support that over the years.

Even when Clare were at a low ebb getting a result in Ennis was a tough task for any team. Although Wexford have improved this year our record against Clare in the Championship is abysmal and we havent won away in a munster venue for years at this stage. Even this year away to Cork and Limerick in the league we came up short. A home draw would have been huge for wexford but alas not to be. If we had even a couple more championship games under our belts going to Ennis it would be a huge help. I believe that we will definitely make a game of it against Clare but they are just that bit further along in their evolution than Wexford are at this point in time.

Unfortunantly, I think Clare will beat use and probably by more then 8(hope to god I wrong). They are all Ireland champions in their own back garden for f**k sake and our lads have not beaten a top 8 side in the league or championship for I don't know how long. I understand the optimism from my own lads and I cant blame them as we are desperate for a big result against a quality team but the reality is we not at that level. It was the same before the Dublin game my own county boys were getting completely carried away thinking that we were going to beat the Leinster champions, when the reality is we flop again( I predicated it). I understand where the Wexford lads are coming from, it out of fierce passion for the team and from the pure desperation to grasp on to something positive, I know because I been there for many a year supporting Wexford. After another disappointed championship exit you been leaving the ground saying ah we going backwards I never going again their useless and yet the next year your back on the road again with hope in your heart. Yes we are improving and yes there is at the moment young talent in Wexford and Dunne has the lads in the best shape they have been in ages and the group we have now are more dedicated than any group we had in a while and I am a little bit more optimistic about the future. But we are still behind the top teams and we just not street smart enough on the line either the handle the tactics of the bigger teams. My heart sank when I say we got Clare in Ennis as I really felt we might have taken a big scalp this year but I feel that is beyond us now. And before any of my own lads say I been to negative, I have followed Wexford hurling for 25 years and if they won sat week I be more happier than anyone else in Wexford but we have to be realistic if Wexford beat Clare in Ennis sat week it will be the biggest shock of the hurling championship so far. There always hope I suppose and I know Liam and the lads will believe they can win but I feel myself it a step or two too far. However I be there supporting the lads, up Wexford.

Dont be so sensitive tearintohim,I fancy our footballers to beat ye well on Sunday and also because of the away draw ye got in Ennis i fancy a big backlash by Clare and a big home win.Im calling it as i see fit.Always have.Always will.

l am a bit surprised that people are writing off Offaly because of their heavy defeat to Kilkenny - remember they took a point of Limerick in the league that denied them promotion. Both teams Antrim and Offaly will fancy their chances so it will be an interesting game and should draw a big crowd close to the Scottish mainland.

My sentiments too isolatedantrim - think this is a very hard game to call. Also, the game of hurling was visible to those over in Britain long before Sky got on the ball - all you needed was a parking spot on the coast on the Mull of Kintyre and a good telescope.

Comparing Dublin to Clare is like comparing stoke city to Barcelona

Doylerwex that is preposterous statement. Cork hammered Clare ( 5 pts v flattering margin for clare. When did Barcelona last get hammered??

Swallow media hype on Clare if u like but on firm diblin are better than them. if wexford show them too much respect they shouldn't bother to go to Ennis ?

disillusiondfan I agree, what a ridiculous statement. There is nothing between the 2 teams he has mentioned above. I am fully expecting that we will show Clare the respect deserving of AI champions but once that ball is thrown in that is where the respect will end.

Doylerwex, were you on the beer or something when you came out with that? Are you the famous jim in disguise? I do remember ranting a few years ago in a drunken stouper about puncturing footballs myself so hope this is the same!

I can see the loser of Kilkenny and Galway this weekend going out vs Tipp in Thurles the week after. The hot weather , hard pitch and the physically of last week and no doubt this week coming will take its toll. A wounded tipp at home with plenty f young legs too is a fearful prospect.

They go dismantled by Munich two season ago 7-1 on aggregate!!! I get your point though. Clare look really good when given time and space but not so much when harried. For me they are the team to beat though.
