Hurling qualifiers

Extraordinary stuff. Tremendous credit to Clare, they kept their heads when down to 13 men. Wexford's lack of experience has cost them dearly. A point up against 13 men they had possession with acres of open space ahead of them and opted for a glory shot for distance put them wide and worse still gave the Clare goalie a chance to loft into the Clare forwards. You would expect Clare to win from here but its been so crazy so far you wouldn't rule anything out.

Not over yet even with 15 v 15 again but if Wexford lose they'll be kicking themselves and surely the ref was a strange disallowed goal.

Shocking wides again. Shocking. What are we doing. Two games in a row. Our touch is awful. Can't keep blaming a young inexperienced team. Time to step up now.

It's just my opinion lads! Posted a similar one last year and wrote kk off and got the same reaction. I genuinely would have at most one of the kk forwards on the tipp team. If limerick manage an upset against cork tomorrow I'd put my house on cork to wipe kk out in an all Ireland semi. This is an older kk team that Kevin Moran nearly beat on his own last year.

Game set and match to Wexford, fair play to them, showed a lot of character, whether that is enough to take you further or not time will tell. Will be interesting to see how far they go now. For Clare, they really make hard work of a very simple game.

Well done Wexford,Clare made a good game of it considering it was 13 v 16 for most of game. Wexford dominated ,the 20 wides should they dominated game. Delighted for them and Liam Dunne,a top hurling man.

Totally agree with joncarter, hurling is just a brilliant game and this was another great example of just how exciting a game it is. Must say I'm a sea of emotions, thrilled for Wexford gutted for Clare. Make no mistake about it Waterford are rubbing their hands and fancying their chances. Another thriller in the offing.

Tiobraid I agree that Kk are nowhere near where they were have been saying it since Jan. What I dont get is why a limerick win would be an upset.

Cork beat a Clare who couldnt beat Wexford on a neutral ground. We beat a tipp team away who then hammered Galway. On form we have done more. On a man to man basis only Nash Walsh Cadogan and Horgan are clearly better than their opposite numbers. We are more experienced and more settled as Cork have 6 new players from last year. Home advantage could shade it but a Limerick win would only be an upset to those who dont study the game in my view.

There have been a lot of rumours circulating in Southern hurling circles that all was not well in the Clare camp this year, Some players had about enough of Davy, however the way they battled today would tend to give the lie to the rumours. Its hard to win an All Ireland but extremely hard to retain the Title, unless of course you come from Kilkenny. Two great games, I feel exhausted from just watching it.

Df if we have half the display coming from some of our lads tomorrow that was shown by conlon today then i reckon we will do it tomorrow. The match today though lads was exciting but in reality poor standard. That cork side cannot be judged yet whereas limerick can as seen in thurles..

It'll be a shame if Wexford don't at least make the quarter-finals from here.

Have heard the same Corkcelt. Clare trained harder than any team ever did last year and the players didnt fancy a repeat this year.

Again though for the hurling student the following was obvious

Clare had 2 average keepers both of whom were caught out Tuohy against Cork and Kelly for Mcdonnells goal.

Was wrong when I said they were short 2 corner backs cos Dillon was great but they were short one as Browne was roasted by Cadogan and again today.

Bugler was off form all year and only for a short period last day against wexford did he play anywhere near his best.

They have a half forward line that cant win primary possession and Wexford in particular went to town on them in first half today. It was also an area where cork could be punished as the cork Half backline is not the strongest.

Also Tony Kelly was never going to be allowed to play all on his own this year

Also last year Davys tactics such as sweeper and roaming 11 worked a treat. They were never going to work this year

When you combine all of these with notion that v few teams perform well 2 years in a row it was obvious that Clare would have an average year. ANyone who predicted any different is clearly not a student of the game.

I am delighted for Wexford but do have sympathy for Clare, they battled bravely with 13 men but it probably took too much out of them and they ran out of legs in extra time. All 3 sending offs over the 2 games were technically correct but I have sympathy for Bugler. He was being held for ages, Ref should have given him a free, in the end his frustration got the better of him and he stupidly gave his man a fair jab with the butt of the hurl. The Ref was standing right in front of him and had little option but to send him off. However its poor Refereeing that frustrates players leads to these kind of actions.
