Least talented Kerry team since 92

Iv been saying it for a while now that our team is in trouble but people think I'm trying to be a cute Kerry hoor, if Clare's shooting was a bit better today they would have taken us no doubt.

Even without Gooch, Kerry's front 6 could consist of any variation of the following: Declan O'Sullivan, Darran O'Sullivan, Donnachadh Walsh, Kieran Donaghy, James O'Donoghue, Paul Geaney, Barry John Keane & even Bryan Sheehan if they were stuck. Hardly a dearth of talent there!

Kerry will be there are thereabouts.

The Bomber was playing the cure hoor card in the Indo today. In 09 when Cork won sam, didn't Tipp take them to extra time? Way too early in the year to be writing anyone off. Few shocks will happen too.

lets give Clare some credit here. They are always a tough team to beat in Ennis and they have made some great strides in the past few years. They played a good defensive system yesterday and have the best midfielder in Ireland at present in Gary Brennan. Tubridy up front would be a handful for anyone. They had two games on the trot also. Tipp result against Cork shows this was not a fluke.

KingdomBoy1 speaks the truth. Our county championship won't be too far away from being back in full swing.
On the whole seeding thing, sure look what the majority wants will be voted through. People from the 4 counties actually admit you'd think they'd improve from having to come up against the big two every year. Tipp and Clare had a chance at the weekend to make a final and stake a claim for earning a seeding themselves. If all were in agreement on seeding the finalists, the 4 counties can plan longterm for what's ahead of them. There'll be more focus on what's required to get to that level and dispose one of the two. Lower counties are set that benchmark in hurling.

Plenty of talent in this Kerry team. James O'Donoghue and Paul Geaney were top notch

Ah look it - the Gooch and Tomás are a massive loss. We have no qualms about last year's All-Ireland finalists and this year's Ulster finalists being the clear runaway favourites.

Big question is whether they will have the fitness and pace to stick with Dublin. In terms of talent they are every bit as good, if they meet it will come down to athleticism.

I told you that the young lads Kerry have are no pushovers.

The defence is underrated and James O'Donoghue is the best corner forward in the country right now. I don't think there's a corner back out there who can mark him 1v1.

Dublin is still the bar, Cork were dreadful today, Kerry have nice players, but are still missing pace from the middle third.

That's it essentially. If a team can beat the Dublin Region, they'll win the All-Ireland.

Firstly, a sublime Kerry display against a mind-boggling spineless (O'Rourke's correct comment) Cork team. Still, I don't see Kerry having the physicality to win this era of AI's. Dublin have both, skill & physicality.

Should be feeling totally defeated after today...but no...I have just simply accepted the ineptness of Cork inter-county football. By the way, its nothing new...check out the historical fact's.

Kerry will most likely play losers of connaught final in quarters to get to a semi against Mayo. To be fair its a long time to wait before getting a serious game. Id have Kerry as second favs for All Ireland after todays display. They will be very fresh this year with the few games they have.

Well the cat is finally out of the bag. We accepted the strengths of our opponents. There was a quiet confidence that we could do something. I knew we'd make the final at least, being a progression on last year. I suppose we have to look at Down in 2010 who have not been near a final since. There is an importance of striking when the iron is hot. Our players to a man did that yesterday. Ciarrai abu!

In fairness the OP still has it right! Dont blame me, the OP is a Kerryman!!!
This is not a great Kerry team despite yesterday and most Kerry folk I spoke to yesterday and today were of that opinion and were a bit flabergasted as to how SAM is back in Kerry in 2014!
But in fairness, one lad was manly enough to answer the others as to why "Because Donegal beat Dublin"!

Dublin believed their own hype. Their tactics against Donegal were as amateurish and as dumb it is possible to be. They deservedly were spanked by a well prepared, talented Donegal who believed in themselves.. Kerry went to work in a manner that Dublin didn't and reaped the rewards.

Your last line is true!
It will forever be 'the one that got away'!

The lesson of 'one size does not fit all' when it comes to how you set up is sorely learned. Roll on 2015!
