HOTY for me is between Hogan and Reid, wouldn't surprise me if Hickey, Harnedy and Cadogen get nominated.

YHOTY will probably be between Cadogen and Dowling.

Dowling by streets. Gave Delaney a torrid time last Sunday. Had five points from play versus Cork. Had 2-9 vs Tipp and tore Wexford apart with 2-10 or so. Not even a contest.

I meant that for young hurler of the year in response to the post about Dowling or Guiney.

Ritchie that was from the beginning of the year from the thread starter.

Ritchie, I hate stating the obvious, but I made that list in June. '12/06/2014 at 12:43:09' to be precise. I (like most) expected Clare to give a better defence of their title and did not expect Dublin to be so poor. I agree the likes of Hickey, Chin and Dowling have had exceptional years and will be in the running for All Stars, but, are any of them realistically going to get POTY? No. And if I may say so that list looks pretty accurate at this stage with TJ Reid, Patrick Horgan, Richie Hogan, Seamus Harnedy, Patrick Maher and Colin Fennelly all in the running for POTY.

Richie.... Guru's list is from early June so all teams were still in the championship. It was obviously based on last year's form.

Hoover... you are either winding us up or your club loyalty is blinding you. Shane Dowling had a great championship and his freetaking was probably the most important factor in Limerick's good run. But he was not the Player of the Year either nationally or for Limerick.

Sorry Hoover I just saw that you were talking about Young HurlerOTY.
Definitely SD is front runner at the moment but there are 2 more games at least for other contenders to shine.

TJ was in contention until last Sunday but an outstanding performance from Seamus Hickey probably knocked him out of the running unless he has a MOTM level outing in the final.

Unless Richie Hogan gets 3 own goals and a red card he will pick up the award. He is some player.

Rose tinted glasses. If Tipp don't beat Cork Callinan won't get it. If Tipp go all the way he might. If Richie Hogan has a half decent game in the final, he is the only contender.

Its not highest scorer of the year its hurler of the year and though Callinan has been fantastic hes not the hurler that Hogan is/has been this season. Every game he works his balls off. Every game he shows more skill and intelligence than any other player and every game he chips in with scores from the midfield. He links defence to the attack brilliantly. The complete hurler

I would imagine that Cody will have been well pleased with Reid's contribution last Sunday. The weather suited backs more and on such days it's as much about digging deep and work rate. Reid dug deep and put in a typical Kilkenny workman like performance. In fact he was on the ball way more than Hickey. More lazy journalism though, TJ held scoreless from play, Hickey had a great match! Reid started the move that lead to the Hogan goal. He also made up to four passes in the game. He was in his own half assisting the backs when it mattered. Underestimated performance from him, Cody nor TJ won't care though.

I totally disagree as Callanans workrate has been immense his unselfishness and distribution of the ball have prevented him from scoring even more
I would put him way ahead of Hogan at present and if Tipp win All Ireland which is looking very likely at the moment it will put the matter beyond all reasonable doubt

Callanan isn't a patch on Hogan when it comes to work rate. If HOTY was decided on work rate alone Colin Fennelly, TJ Reid and Richie Hogan would leave all the Tipp players in their wake.
