Over the years I've noticed a lot of the same heads going to games especially during championship. Wondering where the bulk of support comes from within your county? From my own id say Newbridge, Athy, Carbury/Allenwood and Castledermot is where a lot of the hardcore descend from?

I wouldn't say there is that large a proportion of the Kildare support from Newbridge given the large population of the town. Some Sarsfields and Moorefield people are quite apathetic to the county team because their own inter-club rivalry is so strong. There was always a large support from Clane in the late 90s when they had a number of players on the team but that might have declined now that they have less county representatives and the village is now full of Dub blow-ins.

Well we have 42 clubs in Cavan. Therefore I conclude support comes from 42 different areas.

Obviously there are exceptions to everything but i would say some of the least GAA areas of Dublin would be the likes of Ballsbridge,Rathgar,Rathmines,Ranelagh,Foxrock,Sandycove,Deansgrange,Milltown,Leopardstown,Carrickmines,Blackrock,Dalkey,Killiney on the southside. All predominantly rugby areas. All south of the Liffey.

Ulsterman, you are correct in what your saying but with Wexford playing you in hurling and Fermanagh having a home draw it would be hard to put the 3games on together (minor football) I'm sure lots of Antrim people follow both codes. So it would take a bit of choosing about who to support , especially as the footballers were complete underdogs.
Now I would say Antrim are a sleeping giant and Sunday might kick start a big revival in football in the county.
On a lighter note please sleep on for one more year and don't come out of slumber just yet. Want to see this Donegal win 1more Ulster.
As regards supporting Donegal , well I travelled a few miles in my time , watched the Seniors Minors,Vocational teams and even saw some of the Donegal hurling teams. Was in CP when we won the vocationalise in , was it 1982, I think a young lad from Ardara captained the team. Was he the first ever Donegal person to lift a trophy in the Hogan stand.
I think it does not matter what part of the county your are from, how good or bad the team is playing but if you are a really staunch GAA man and you love your county then you will support the County. I got to know a lot of people through following Donegal, meeting them at Airports, Clones,Ballybofey or in Dublin 2012 was unreal , never got so much pleasure in all my life. If God spares me when I retire I will follow all the teams from the county. Love going to games.

From Meath I think taking out the greater navan area, the support mostly comes from the border areas, summerhill, kells, ballinabracky, Enfield, bettystown etc etc . But lot of Meath heads don't even live in county, myself included and yet at O'Byrne and league games we the ones behind stand at ht having a fag and a moan. You all know the ones. :).

I wonder how many that are apathetic beir. I often see large numbers of both sarsfields and Moorefield supporters at Kildare games. Aother factor is the number of players from clubs that have representation on the county team.

Ulsterman, Celtic is the biggest team in Belfast, probably followed by Man U and Liverpool, and that just the nationalists :-) I've been at hurling league games in Casement where there were more Dubs and there were only a few hundred of us!

Considering it's a football mad town with a huge population it's no surprise that there will always be significant Newbridge support at county games particularly when they're on in Newbridge. Just my own experience of a lot of GAA people from the town is that they are not too pushed about the county team compared to most people involved in some of the smaller clubs dotted around the hinterland. It's a vibe I get off some of them, not all.

Naas seems a total wasteland for GAA beir bua. Was down there for league semi finals last year (Kildare/Tyrone and Dublin/Mayo) and took four pubs before found one that was showing the matches (Kildare game was on first) and even then it was on small screen and only ones watching were four Dubs, two Mayo people and a chap from England!

Cuederocket- a very good summary of non-CLG areas I would think, but surely Cuala count for something in Dalkey?

Cuala count for a lot in Dalkey!.....and count for a lot in Dublin!!!

They aint no 'token GAA club' in a rugby heartland!......manys the county on here would do well to recognise that when moaning about the Dubs and why their own county is not up to much!
