Completely ridiculous, how would only four fans go to watch the Hurlers play, and im not singling Mayo out here, id say this is going on in a lot of Counties.

I wouldn't agree this is a disgrace, how many Kilkenny supporters would make the journey for a B All Ireland football QF. Sure the Cork football support is tiny and they are playing in some major games. Hurling isn't big in some counties and that is reflected in the support, is that real;ly a big deal?

I'm sure there'll be a few hundred in McHale Park for the semi-final.

Such a shame,Must be disheartening to put in all the effort of inter county training and then no-one give a hoot if you win or not

Disappointing but Mayo is a football mad county with thousands following the football team. Sure we even had over 2,000 who traveled over to NY a few weeks ago. I feel sorry for the hurlers but thats just the way it is. Fixing the semi final for 1pm on a Sat does no good in trying to attract a decent crowd much more so on Kerry fans have to travel up to Castlebar.

Its hard to understand where a figure of 4 came from. Do these players not have any families, kids wives, parents or girlfriends or even boyfriends that might go along to shout them on. Like everything else I would have thought support starts at home.

Game against Meath is in Trim and I highly doubt a big Mayo crowd will travel to Trim.. Meath always seem to pull a big crowd and there really pushing for there to be an even larger crowd this time round

Meath had about 200 supporter in Ballycran last year for the CRC semi final replay. They have a good following. Wicklow also travel well.

Im a hurling fan myself in mayo , we are few and far between and i make it to most game home and away to cheer on they boys , support is always just the small hurling community of the county but trying to make a game in wicklow at 2:30pm on a saturday is impossible, Due to work commitments on saturday morning i was unable to travel to wicklow for a 2:30pm game ...

making castlebar at 1pm this saturday will be equally as difficult. the timing of games does not help the crowds , but at the same time 4 supporters is poor

We brought back another few thousand along with us brend. Sure those NY women couldn't get enough of our cultured ways. There are two of them footing my turf as we speak.

On the topic of hurling, I quite simply have little interest in the game and don't find it entertaining. If mayo had a cricket team, I wouldn't watch them either.

Counties as this level should press for Saturday evening or Sunday games if it's an issue. It definitely keeps the crowd down. Probably linked with players being available for other games at the weekend?
