I like O'Rourke & Dara O'Se in the football. Duignan in the hurling & Eddie Brennan has been good since he started.
On the writing side I like Michael Foley in the Sunday Times a lot & Breheny's generally a good read in the Indo.

Shows how different opinions can be...I can't stand Darragh Moloney. On any sport at all !

Commentator- Darragh Maloney is good but a hopeless Dub fan. MM and Mike Finnerty are ok, as are the TG4 lads.

Hurling analysts- Eddie Brennan and Donal Og for insight, Nicky English in the papers. Loughnane for entertainment.

Football- RTE are generally poor. McStay is good when he isn't trying too hard to be clever. Oisin McConville is good on Second Captains. Parkinson is entertaining on Newstalk, as is David Brady.

Sportswriter- Keith Duggan captures the essence of things very well in my opinion.

Loughnane and Cyril Farrell for hurling.

O'Rourke, McStay and Paul Earley are pretty decent football analysts.

Apart from Breheny and O'Connor, and with Humphries otherwise occupied, there isn't much quality out there. You'll always have ex-players writing for the tabloids but usually only for the sake of making controversial comments to stir sales rather than any brain-engaged proper game analysis.

O Cinneide is great on Seo Sport on TG4 and in the Examiner. Kieran Shannon in the Examiner does fabulous articles, and Eamonn Sweeney in the Sindo can be controversial but is generally entertaining.
