Something like what the All Ireland championship was like in around 1974-1986.
CELTIC means more than just football When the Irish were being discriminated here not many years ago WE always had CELTIC. Even the poor working class men and women , CELTIC kept their spirits alive.
Do all ye not think we could compete in the premiership , off course we could. Just raise the money, same as Mu Mc Liverpool Chelsea and buy your way to success For starters CELTIC have thousands of fans here in London , imagine the crowds they would bring to games.
The CELTIC faithful are made up of a large percentage of either Irish,Irish decent and ways had a large Donegal following as Donegal people comprised well over half of Irish emigrants in Glasgow 30/40 years ago So J McGuinness would be no outsider but I can't see him even going for the job. Anybody who never lived in Glasgow would not know how divided the city is, would want to watch what colours you wear in certain parts, very political city. CELTIC ,always a team for Donegal people and always will be

celtic are a scottish soccer club the whole irish attitude is just typical nonsense that they must all support them.
I have never liked them
you get typical rubbish thrown at you in this country nowadays for being nationalist they tell you your living in the past!
yet at the same time if you tell somebody you dont like celtic to most they think something odd with you
the same as the adds for the world cup and irish soccer success in general all revolves around putting the ball in the english net
its so hypocritical haha

+1
Well said hill, they are a foreign club in a foreign country!

And hypocrisy, there are few things as hypocritical as:
boys shouting against England in the world cup; the same
boys who shout for the same players in the premiership clubs
they blindly follow!
Hypocrisy; pure blind!

Most people are getting that this is a joke but there incredidly seems to be one or two taking it seriously. Just to be clear : McGuinness is 40-1 with Paddy Power - an Irish bookmaker who have him in the running as a novelty to garner a bit of publicity. (something they are quite brilliant at)
He's not in the betting with any British bookie because he's simply not even close to being a candidate.

Jesus, some fellas would need to lighten up a bit.

This thread is only a bit of fun, not an excuse for people to display their bigotry.

Thanks for taken the time to explain what I already know SamOnErrigal, it changes nothing, rubbish league, foregone conclusion, they're a Scottish team as far as I know, half of Donegal may have emigrated there but that's a Donegal issue, otherwise they mean nothing to me!

Always found it a bit strange that so many Irish people chose / choose to support Celtic over Hibs, the original club in Scotland with Irish roots.

It'd hardly be down to something as fickle as success would it?

Its a funny thing if_in_doubt but there might actually be different reasons for why different supporters tend to support Celtic rather than Hibs. Success may well be one reason. Glasgow having an Irish population many times the size of Edinburgh could be another. Glasgow being much closer to the boat to Belfast (which many many supporters travel on) than Edinburgh could be another. Celtic fully embracing their Irish heritage could even be another reason. So you see, lots of different reasons but of course your one is also relevant for some people I am sure.

I understand how people living In Ireland might not have the same time for CELTIC as the Irish living in Scotland/UK. Before I emigrated I followed CELTIC as a boy , all the talk about them when people came back from Scotland. But the reality is for Irish people living in Scotland and especially Glasgow, CELTIC are the real deal.
Yes Scotland might be a foreign country and ye can class CELTIC as a foreign club but to me they are the ONE Irish club ,always will be. How comes the Tricolour flies over Parkhead?????
Last year a book was wrote about Donegal, emigration, partition and how it cut Donegal off from the rest of the Republic, the counties close ties with Derry/Glasgow and not Dublin Now the author in his research in talking to a few old Donegal men in Glasgow and they more or less said you could CELTIC as a Donegal club. And that is how I think. It's when you leave Ireland you open your eyes and especially when confronted with a lot of Anti Irishness.
As regards Hibs in Edinburgh, yes I was in Easter Road and they would be my second team to follow ( could not give a toss about the premiership) as I can also identify with them, founded by an Irish Catholic prist and mostly Irish labourers played for them first. You also have Dundee Unt The unfortunate thing about Scottish football is the religious divide , CELTIC/Rangers in Glasgow not so much elsewhere alough Hibs/hearts in Edinburgh and Dundee Unt/Dundee in Dundee. The other reason a lot of Irish people follow CELTIC is the Nationalist/Republician thing. If you don't believe me go to the Barrowlands Bairds bar , swear you were in the Falls road. Anyway we are getting off the beaten track about JMcG but I can't have anybody rubbishing CELTIC

I appreciate your loyalty to that team and as I said I know WHY Donegal people feel a connection but it still doesn't change the fact that a monkey could manage them to winning the SPL!
