Two different types of player, I'd take Declan over Darren any day!

Wow not one person has agreed with Waynol but he's very stubborn and will still say Darren is better even doh we all know he's not.

Darren was never a patch on Declan (even though Declan was/is thee single greatest whinger in gaelic football). When Darren was made captain, under that dubious club rule they use in Kerry, it sort of backfired, because he's not a natural leader on the pitch, and I heard there was much unrest in the beautiful Kingdom as a result.

Gaelantrim that is the first I have heard of there being unrest over Darren being captain in 2009.
He is a popular lad in the group so I very much doubt your source!!!

But yep I agree the rule is silly...the fact Kieran O leary is Kerry captain this year says enough

Maybe Declan's lost a bit of motivation? He doesn't have anything more to prove really. He's still a very good player though.

Declan > Darran all day every day. Much more too him, Darran is extremely effective for his pace but he doesn't have anything else stand out.

Declan has strength, pace, agility, balance, a pass and a shot all in abundance. Everything you want from a forward, one of the most naturally talented and enjoyable to watch players I've seen. He's never been a man for the big day though, and he hasn't been the same since he lost Kerry the AI in 2011. Still a handy player to have mind, but on peak form he should be one of the best forwards in the country no doubt. He has all the tools.

We'd a lot of things wrong in the camp in 09 but the captaincy one I don't think. The last year it was a potential issue was 07 when Declan's place was in doubt and he captain. Before that 02 was the standout year where where the rule was in question. Brosnan got it and many felt he was too young and Moynihan should be appointed.
As for Declan vs Darren, Declan is the best all rounder and has been one of the most important players for Kerry since he became senior. Darren is very important now but head to head it's always Declan.

Your 'view' is completely laughable Wayno - Declan is streets ahead of Darran as a footballer. Declan is an absolute class act and hopefully he will light up this years championship in the absence of the Gooch.

just to say, wayno is only about 19 i think is it Wayne?
Declan has not been the superstar he was for maybe 4 years now...
maybe that explains why wayne might think Darren is better?

Seems like Darren's had a lot of injury problems lately. He was excellent in 2011.
