Liamo I agree , my kids are fascinated with all things hurling , Gaa and soccer , they play x box and ask me about legends , some of which hurts as I saw them play in the auld in days , but context is everything , I tell them had so and so played hed play in this position , this is who would be as fast currently playing , and how many goals they would have scored etc
In context of evaluating this Dublin team Id bear in mind the following
This Dublin team beat Mayo by what score ?
How good were we v Cork in the league
How good were we v Mayo in the league
Cavalry type endings are blinding some to some average performances .
If we are so good how come we dig bigger holes than Alan Shatter to get out of ?
The hype by some Dubs is comical , we have hardly ever put in a full match performance .
We are the best around at the moment , but we are not as far ahead as some think , I said earlier in the year you can not keep going to the wishing well in the last two minutes , sooner or later a post will be hit and we will be on the end of a defeat , and what context do you analyse that ? And some will see value of team plummet , which would be equally shortsighted.

Damo,

My OP wasnt over hype, It was actually putting down hype down and saying that this side isnt great. As you said we are currently the best in the country. But we are nowhere near emulating the great sides, Thats the jist of my whole point.

What's this craic about Connolly and Phily McMahon? They don't sound like best buddies

I like this pic from the 2010 quarter-final. Philly seems a bit nuts though obviously Joe can't complain after shouting at Tommy Walsh in the 2008 game. Just thought it was an amusing picture, Joe looking at him like "what the hell is wrong with you".

Just from looking through the album of photos from that 2010 match, have to hand it to Bernard Brogan in particular, seemed very decent at the final whistle, consoling a number of Tyrone players.
