Sky Sports' GAA - I love it!!

Any chance we can set up an Ormo v Hillo thread? Don't like seeing my thread turn into a wall of bold text and discussing rugby...

Back on topic, sky sports keeping it professional as expected for the wexford game. Seems like a good crowd there too hopefully a cracker of a game!

Have to say, outside of looking at Rachel I don't see the big deal. Don't know how the lads can concentrate on what they should be saying. If I'm deemed a chauvinist so be it, but I would prefer listening to men when talking about these games.

I'm dead!

Another success for sky. Reald won't even dignify that comment with a responce. Even if its accurate :]

Any chance you can actually say my name right?
Wouldn't mind setting up an Ormond v hill thread or even face to face meeting. He talks s**** as do I. May as well meet up in a pub to do it.
Of course sky will keep it professional. They don't do otherwise

Sexist pig...
She knows what she's on about so don't see why its a problem. She's super at her job and knows what questions to ask and when to ask them. Just what she's meant to do

didnt get to wexford lst night as im in limerick for the weekend
so watched the match last night on wiziwig
have to say in my honest opinion
it was more like american football analysis than hurling
the match commentary was the same as wathing tv3 last year
nothing to wrong with that same commentary team ( the main commmentator voice very whingy but you get over it)
they done the same thing again as tv3 with putting the amount of times people touched the ball in the game
doesnt really mean anything to any of us outside the stats men who work for county teams
it was then in the studio that I found awkward more than anything
do they really need two presenters?
it didnt seem to work really
you had to standing at a screen and well to be honest were more interested
in drawing lined and using gadgets than the actual match itself
more about stats on numbers then when they sat down than actually discussing the play
4 of them sitting down then and wyse would ask a question across the table and then carney would ask across too
to me dont realy see the need in two presenters
not saying it was bad but more like american football they are trying to make it about numbers and ststs for viewers
instead of actualy talking about the game itself.
also one negative for me was miss wyse I didnt think she looked comfortable she seemed uneasy with what she had to say
and it didnt come natural to her to talka about gaa it seemed more forced.
now she could well grow into it like anybody thats new at something but for me they have a long way to go yet to portray hurling
anyway in the light it is seen here in ireland.
be interesting to see how they approcah football will they be differant?

I would be for SKY as an extra outlet for GAA and have said so here on numerous occasions. but to be honest I watched last night on a freeapp I downloaded (mobdro if anyone is interested, only for android phones)and the analysing afterwards was very cardboard. Miss Wyse definetly looks unsure what questions to ask and it definetly looked awkward when switching from one pair of presenters to the next pair, Its early stages I guess and Ill be interested in the football analysing , But the bottom line is if your going to pay a subscription for a service it has to be better than something that is already in place for free. At the moment I don't see it. But again early days.

My comment could be considered sexist but less of the 'pig'. Some of the posters seem to disagree with your take on the lady in question.

Watched recorded match this morning , someone said cardboard and Id agree with this , seems forced , its like spinal tap does GAA ,they appear like actors playing a role , very uncomfortable watching , now Ive no doubt it will improve as there is resources there and they do sport well normally , Anchorwoman R Wyse not very inspiring , said it at the time they seriously missed a trick in not getting D O Cinneaide off TG4 ,

I am anti sky as ye know, but I have to say that rte's camera work today is very poor , I don't know what sky's coverage is like but it can't be much worse IMO.

Hillman,

Could it be you're warming to the Sky deal??? I agree with a lot of your analysis there having watched it last night. Rachel is indeed very easy on the eye but didn't come across as natural. Hopefully it will improve but overall I'm still positive about the coverage & the deal.

Was always gonna happen with the clash with England's first World Cup match. I'll wager the viewing figures for their 2nd game will be down too!

Well I think the Gaa should just quit then, if history has taught us anything, surely it's taught us that if you don't succeed in two weeks then you never will so you should definitely quit.

The Sky GAA deal will work

From the indo:

"According to BSkyB, the AC Nielsen figures only reflect the average audience for the live TV broadcast of the game viewed in residential households in standard definition.

They do not include the thousands of households across Ireland who watched the game on Sky Sports 3 in High definition.

Nor do they include, pubs, clubs/hotel viewing across Ireland.

In addition, there were many other ways to watch the game live via mobile, tablet and online which are not included in the figures. For example, the figures do not include those who viewed the match via Sky Go or Sky Sports mobile tv.

Sky said today it is pleased with the extremely positive reactions from customers and others so far for their GAA partnership.

They also don't include the viewers in the UK on any platform. You'd really wonder what's the point of this ratings company when they don't track most of the ways people watch the station.

Not sure if you were referring to the Hurling or football. The football coverage of Monaghan and Tyrone was courtesy of BBC.

Your right it was BBC coverage I was looking at, it was very poor in fairness.
