Sky Sports' GAA - I love it!!

It will be very interesting to see how Sky portray our games. I still really do't know what to make of it. I guess only time will tell. As long as they don't make a mockery of our games and kepp things under control to an extent I'll be happy enough I guess

I'd imagine Sky is going to 'dump down' their coverage of Hurling this evening, probably have a bit of basic explanations going on that the vast majority of viewers won't find necessary (because they'll be Irish viewers). Still though I'm looking forward to seeing how our great games get on with the more extensive coverage, if they do catch on (yes we know this is only about retaining Irish subscribers from Sky's point of view) then great, if they don't then ah well no harm in trying.

On the way home from Croker having watched our hurlers win the Lory Meagher. I'll be in Pearse Park this evening so I won't get to see Sky's maiden hurling voyage. I'm sure I'll get the verdict here later on though. Longfort Abú!

Why would they make a mockery of hurling and gaelic? They have irish staff who know the games and have played the games combined with irish staff who are known to the british public who may turn over to the coverage and recognise some faces.
Will be interesting and think it may have some teething problems but will go ok

They may dumb things down but it will be somewhat necessary for the brits with no experience of the sport. Should be good to have no provider entering the sport

Well that's it, if there's a few foreigners watching there's no harm explaining the game a little, infact there might be no harm explaining hurling to a few of us in Meath either, wouldn't know which end of the hurl to hold!

Should be happening any minute now, the four lads are just saddling up their horses.

Jamesie O'Connor has been very good so far, nice and detailed analysis and some good clips to illustrate tactics and the like.

Also good to see they actually went to the effort of interviewing Brian Whelehan down in Offaly during the week about becoming manager, rather than just looking for a few token comments after he got off the bus this evening.

Kilkenny are starting to pick up speed. Time to send the kids to bed before this turns into a horror film.

Search hurling on twitter and it's amazing to see the amount of people commending the sport who have never seen it before. They are in awe of the skill and physicality

Who cares about sky sports coverage...why are we fawning to the english ?...why do we care about what they think?...once again as a nation we cannot get over our post colonial past....this game is being shown on a their 3rd channel alongside hockey and darts. meanwhile on their premier channel Ireland are playing Argentina in rugby....guess what most sky sports viewers are tuned into this evening?..its not what's happening in nowlan Pk....time we realised this sham for what it is
