1594037 Lol yeah it's that charming northside Dublin brogue that gets them swooning jimbo!

I once told a bird from Malahide that my family "owned" one of the islands off the coast of Donegal and that we simply used it as our isolated getaway. How it was a wonderful haven of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin city life. Of course she was welcome to join me for a weekend away if it ever took her fancy.

Three words:

Hook. Line. Sinker
-----
So you showed her Inch Island ?

1594578 Couple of things about this, one is that we were going to try and win that game too, we brought on players after 20 minutes which would suggest that we were there for the silverware too. Also, we have the same amount of time available to size up the opposition as they have us, which gives us no better or worse advantage over other teams. The team jmg is sizing up now is the winner of fermanagh and antrim. After that, the sizing up will be about tyrone, monaghan, armagh or cavan provided we are still in the ulster competition. there is utterly no point in playing favorites with any of those teams in terms of guessing who we might or might not play later this year, one game at a time and all that..

I accept Donegal were trying to win the game, In the same way they try and win every game they play regardless whether League or Championship.

But lets be honest, Donegal were behind by 5 or 6 points when they brought on Gallagher and McHugh. They then managed to claw back that considerable deficit and go level on the 53rd minute.
Donegal were man down at that stage, and eventually Monaghan got a late goal and tagged over 3 late points to snatch it. Repeat of the 2013 Ulster final my arse, Monaghan ran Donegal into the ground last summer.

With Monaghan facing the winner of Down/Tyrone, they knew neither of those two teams could really focus on them until after their preliminary round game. So Monaghan went all out to win silverware in Croke Park, against a tough Donegal opposition. I honestly didn't feel we seen the best Donegal had to offer that day, and it wasn't because they were overpowered.

As for the one game at a time theory, thats a bit exagerrated. What you think Jim McGuinness spends 6 or 7 months looking at only Derry, and then only 2 or 3 weeks looking at every other team???
I don't think so, every management team builds a profile of every team they may or will likely face in the Summer ahead.

So when they actually get drawn against that team, they then can roll out what they know and get the players working on it Immediately that tuesday or wednesday night. Players spend the winter and spring doing tactical drills to combat various types of opposition, along with developing their own system of play.

McGuinness knows that while his players might only focus on the next game, he must be prepared to face the likes of Monaghan or Tyrone later this summer. If he waits until Donegal beat Fermanagh or Antrim, then it would take him a week or two studying the opposition before he could unleash his plan of attack to his players.

Saw a bit on here about the draw and about two different groups and it's a new format from previous. According to the post Derry seem to be in a handy side and he suggests they could easily reach a quarter final against either Galway, Cork or Kerry. Now if that were the case Derry could easily get to the semi final, which could possibly involve Mayo. A few tough games but Derry could be as good as any of them come August. So I would not say all is lost and we could get our dream ALL IRELAND FINAL Derry vDonegal ?????

Can anyone explain the grouping for qualifiers. How are they made up?
What was wrong with the Existing open draw?

A link would do if anyone has

have seen this on our forum page hope it is of some help
Lads the qualifiers are different this year. Group A and B and with Leitrim in group b you can't face London or Longford.

Team you are likely to face in round 1.

Armagh or Cavan
Down
Tyrone or Monaghan
Clare or Waterford
Westmeath
Louth or Kildare
Carlow or Meath

This is not good news for Leitrim as there are lots of teams who could give us a good beating but as was pointed for teams like Derry who must be in Group A but not 100% on this
