GAAGO is starting with Tyrone v Down. They should broadcast Roscommon v Leitrim instead.

So, I just watched today's game on the RTE player (Tyrone v Down), and I found the playback quality to be poor I'm afraid. Did anyone else watch the game online? I have a pretty good internet connection (at least I'm paying for a good connection...), but playback was still very choppy, alot of stalling, alot of screen freeze. The whole thing froze for the last minute and a half of extra time.
For desktop, there were four HDS renditions within the stream, but the adaptive streaming wasn't working well. And even when the lowest stream (512K) was playing, the stream still hung alot. They're using HDS live streaming instead of HLS (for desktop anyway), and it doesn't appear to have been well tested.

What did everyone else think of today's live web offering? Did anyone else have similar playback problems, or was it just me (which is also possible)?

I used the RTE Player today and had a great experience with it. Very good HD quality for most of the coverage, with a few short drops on quality. I have had some problems with the Player for games in the past but today I found it great. Hopefully a sign of things to come with GAAGo. I also had the BBC coverage on AerTV.ie and it was like watching a different game, the quality was so poor by comparison.

I am based in Portugal. I have decent broadband, 30mb download (actual around 15mb) and I watch it on a mini PC (Lenovo Q190) connected to a HD tv.

Hopefully, it was only a temporary glitch on your end. If you continue to have problems with the RTE Player, it might be worth checking out the RTE2 HD feed on AerTV.ie.

watched the match in USA and it was overall poor. Could be ok at times but then at other times the buffering would start, very frustrating. Like the refereeing consistency was the problem

RTE/GAA would need to clear up that problem before I have to pay for it, Premium Sports were usually much better quality that what I had today maybe hire some of their Engineers?

Interesting to see that Beagslife got good quality playback in Portugal, whereas omaghjoe had the same experience as myself in watching the games in the US. As I'd imagine the streams are being hosted from a CDN in Ireland (or somewhere in Western Europe), it seems to be a latency issue thats causing poor playback in the US. That shouldn't be in this day and age, live streaming should work better than that. I'm not sold on HDS for live streaming over HLS, but I guess it depends on the player RTE are using.

Did anyone else based in the US watch RTE's live stream last week from the GAAGo site? Did you have a better experience then myself or omaghjoe? If lasts weeks experience is anything to go by, we might all still end up going to bars to watch games.

Cork v Waterford stream just disappeared on the rte player. Not a network issue, the file doesn't appear to be on the cdn. Not impressed.

Had no issues at all with the main event of the day thankfully! However, the hurling cut out three times in the first half. Got it back quick enough. No better or no worse than Premium Sports last year so far

Three minor buffering issues in the Derry v Donegal match. The feed shut off quite a number of times in the first half of the Cork v Waterford match. 2nd half was better. Usually the PS connection had occasional buffering also but good overall. Using IE ver. 11 Windows 7, 14.2 Mbps.
