1579846 KingdomBoy1 catch yourself on - Dublin come up against the wrong team and they will be beaten - I would not fancy their chances against the like of Donegal and I think Derry have a very good chance on Sunday - they will certainly be closer than 7 points.
Ah naysayer, naysayer,
Do you not recognise Kerry cuteness when you see it?

Listening to folk talking about Dublin you would think they were 10 ft tall and breath fire from their behinds - seriously need to get a grip - they are good but there are other good teams out there too - you have to remember when winning the All Ireland last year they managed to avoid Ulster teams.
Well me oul sausage the way you Nordies pimp out the likes of Donegal you could be accused of the same the hyperbole as well. So Dublin won an easy AI because we avoided Ulster teams, sorry about that, you see there was not much left of Ulster teams as Mayo battered Donegal back into Pre JMcG times.
But respect to Derry, they are a good team. Dublin won't take them for granted. I'll guess we'll know exactly where both teams are at come tea time on Sunday.
For what its worth, the stop / start mantra of Dublin been suggested by a lot of posters not his site as a good reason Dublin will loose are talking shite. The fact that we tried out as many players as we did and still made a final is a master stroke by Gavin and will stand to us this year and next.

bluedubstar I use Donegal as an example as they are strong on a system that I think Dublin will struggle against. They were not great last year but a lot of teams struggle off the back of winning an All Ireland. Yes Mayo tore them a new one last year but while Donegal were not fully at it Mayo were out with the bit between their teeth and I feared after that performance that they had hit too many big games and peaked too soon and so it proved with an error strewn final from both teams last year. People talked about the great Kerry Dublin game last year but in truth it was like watching two boxers go toe to toe using their faces as their defence - exciting yes but the space afforeded all over the field was criminal - I just cannot see the like of Donegal allowing any of this.

The Master
Dublin still managed to get a draw out of that game. Now Mayo played a large part in that by losing concentration and some strange substitutes- part of me wonders if Horan was all that concerned about winning that game. However what it did show is that Dublin have the firepower to get out of almost any situation. Despite it all Mayo are possibly still best placed to beat them in championship but their back 6 will have to be foot perfect, even if they do manage to disrupt the kick outs.
I disagree with your analysis of the Mayo midfield being targeted as well. Dublin did their level best to ensure the O'Shea's weren't invited down the runway last September. They moved them across the park constantly. If anything the O'Shea's weren't that well served by the Mayo half backs and half forwards failing to cut out Cluxton's options in the final. When they did it properly in March O Shea and Gibbons had a field day.

As much as I would like to agree with you Naysayer I think you'll find we are a bit more porous in 2014 so far than in the previous few years. It has worried me all through the league that when teams run at us we are very open and almost all the games we have played the opposition has created 2 or 3 goal chances. Some of this is due to the black card and players not wanting to put in last ditch tackles for fear of the black card.
Its difficult to know how Donegal will do this year and in fairness at the end of the league in 2012 we wouldn't have predicted Donegal winning the All Ireland but everything came good in the championship so hopefully the same this year.
As regards Dubs or Derry this weekend I think Dublin will win but not by much. Derry are a very physical team and have good pace in almost all positions. The one area that will swing it though is midfield. Fergal Doherty is a good player but not the modern midfield player. I feel that Dublin will eventually overrun Derry in midfield and springboard their win from there.
Some interesting points have been made about the innocence of Division 1 this year with no real defensive teams in the division and no cynical play to be seen. It will be interesting when these teams do come up against a more defensive set up. Tyrone are a nice playing team but I've seen Down first hand and they are hitting harder and with more intensity than in the last few years so thats not a foregone conclusion. If Tyrone do get past Down then Monaghan are no shrinking voilets and after last years quarter final they will probably be hoping it is Tyrone and for revenge. Derry v Donegal will be a contrast in styles too.
Of all the teams in Ireland at the minute I still feel that Dublin are ahead on the basis of the attacking players they have. They have some of the most talented individuals in the forward line that Dublin have fielded in a long time, Conolloy especially. Their only weak link in my opinion is they're full back line but that can always be helped out with a sweeper so imo they are best placed to win the treble of league, Leinster and AI again.

Naysayer, Dublin have played Donegal, Tyrone and Armagh in recent times and beaten the lot of them. So what you on about?

Exactly, its a bit like the emperors new clothes here. If I was naysayer I'd be focusing on Ulster as Donegal have a lot of work to do get through that.

Liam, I don't know about Tyrone & Armagh but Dublin haven't beaten Donegal yet in 2014, they drew in 2013 & Dublin can count their lucky stars they didn't meet them in 2012.

Naysayer There is nothing or no team to stop Dublin this year or the next few years IMO they remind of the Kilkenny hurlers a few years back.

------- Couldn't agree more. The great pretenders Mayo, Cork and Tyrone have been reeled in. Derry were given a false sense of security by the Dubs fielding a C team in Celtic Park. They will be destroyed by the champions in the capital. Dubs to win without their talented U21s by 4 pulling up. Derry to be put in their place. :) I hope!!

I am highly amused reading these comments. I will be more amused re-posting a load of them in the summer.
I have said before that if you were to give me money to walk into the bookies I would put it on Dublin but if you give me evens on someone other than Dublin I would be all over that with my own money.
Dublin are the obvious favourites at this stage but I can see ways of stopping them especially when it comes to the intensity of Championship football - I am old enough to have saw this situation many times before when one team gets called unbeatable only to come a cropper.
It is hard enough to win back to back All-Irelands, it will be harder again for Dublin being totally over hyped.
Look should they succeed I will be the first on here to congratulate them but for me they are not far enough ahead for all this fanciful talk.

Very true Naysayer, We won an Allireland by 1 point last year, just about got by Kerry. We have been poor in league this year bar a good second half against Cork, Because we are Champions we are slightly ahead of the pack at the moment in peoples eyes, but come championship we will have to deal with keeping focus when meeting a hungry Meath or Kildare team wanting to get a leinster title, after that we could meet any of 5 teams along the way capable of beating us if they hit form and we don't . Which is why back to backs aren't done too often in Football. But as defending Champions its a position we will relish and give it a great shot in defending it .
