Not always. When deemed important enough it rightfully goes up to the top of the broadcast..
Just because a story involves sport doesnt mean it has to go to the end of the programme which is what you have been implying

the news headlines are for the biggest stories of the day and that most definitely can include sport. how can you not grasp that?

1578806 Dahayser - Soccer is a global sport and Ireland is no different to any other country - just ours is tarnished with years of conflict with the British...and I'll hopefully be in the Avivia for that game and also Meath's first championship game.

Youd be better off enjoying a nice round of golf on L&B links than wasting your time watching that foreign muck in the Aviva.
A fine golf course.

because ormond sports has a sports section
tragedy, crime and politics come under the main section and weather has its own section too
how hard is this to understand for you

Its irrelevant that sport has its own segment on the news. If the story Is big enough it goes in the main headlines.

Hill, as Soma said a few posts back, I think we're just going round in circles. If someone thinks that the sacking of a football manager is not just the equivalent of scores of people losing their lives in an air or sea disaster, but of actual greater priority, then its pointless arguing with them.

I think most level headed people would realise that news is supposed to highlight what's actually important, not just whats important to us. Even if you don't watch the whole news, headlines should make you aware that something else is happening outside our increasingly more micro-targeted worlds of fashion, entertainment, sports etc, or whatever people are personally into.

And I think most people realise, deep down, that news of human suffering or potential conflict, no matter how sad or depressing, is ultimately more important than any sports story. Or at least I would hope so, or our society is set to become even more inhumane than it already is.

So what do people think? Will it be Bryan Dobson presenting live from Old Trafford tonight with Sharon in Amsterdam? A huge day for the people of Ireland, lets hope no expense is spared by RTE in giving this appointment of the new manager the coverage it deserves.

IMO its more worrying that our national broadcaster spends 12 minutes of prime time "news" showcasing one of its minor presenter's marriage. So then why are we surprised that an ailing English soccer club's fortunes wouldn't feature as news? I mean our lives are so boring and meaningless that we need this crap! or indeed for the likes of "Sky" to tell us its ok to actually like hurling, the greatest game in the universe.
