Just what RTE deserve

I remember watching the All-Ireland hurling quarterfinals in an Irish bar in Austria last year via Premier Sports. Terrible commentary & adverts ALL the way through the half-times - no analysis. If there's now a better option for people/pubs abroad to see these games via Sky then bravo!

Do the GAA not limit the amount of league games that RTE are able to show in order to boost attendances at the games?

Ogra, I think the contract for league games is between Setanta on Saturday nights and TG4 on Sundays. Don't think RTE get any live league games, could be wrong though.

I made a thread on the Meath forum regarding the lack of sponsorship boarding around many county grounds such as Navan or Drogheda compared to LOI grounds who get attendances of less than 1000 on regular occasions.

A poster replied and made it clear to me that one thing that hinders county boards efforts to get sponsorship is the lack of coverage the ground will get.

If RTE were arsed getting to all league games in division 1 and 2 and throw in the biggest ones from 3 and 4 and show even just short highlights like the LOI clubs get every week, it would make a huge difference. Many County grounds would find it a lot easier getting business' to sponsor an advertising board.

I really with the GAA would force them in their contracts to cover more than just 3/4 football division 1 games a week or 3/4 division 1 hurling matches when their weekends are on.

I couldnt agree more. RTE coverage of Allianz league is abysmal. When I look at even the highlights show that the AFL send out for the Aussie Rules its far superior to RTEs effort. There is no reason that every division 1 and 2 game should not have at least 1 camera there to cover the game, and some of the lower divisions also. You can add commentary afterwards quite easily.

Maybe GAA doesn't want all games covered. All blame cant be put on RTE. Don't see how GAA could force them to cover more than they do

surely they could put a better highlights package together is the point ormond
if they can get a camera to all league of ireland premier matches on a weekend
why can they not take in 6 even gaa matches over a weekend
afterall tg4 shows two games so they can easily use their footage
setanta shows two games so they can easily take their footage
then all they have to do is send out two cameras
