I can't help but respond to your post, 75/25 you say, not a chance, Kerry are Kerry, they may be cute hoors and all that, but they are always highly competitive and hate loosing, Kerry have breezed through the league with a clean sheet and maximum points, we came through with 2 points less and one loss, the one loss was against Kerry.
The Kerry victory over Carlow is psychologically a major boost for Kerry.
Kerry have a proven, serious scoring power against the same opposition as ourselves, ie - 14 goals-92 points for, where as Carlow have 7 goals - 88 points for.
It's going to be tight, very tight, possibly tighter than 50/50, ie - a draw match.

He's been bigging up Down, "the Christy Ring champions", too. I was at that game in Croker & really it was one Kerry should've won. Down have lost 3 or 4 from that team & are currently operating in a lower division.

Unfortunately speaking from experience. Carlow have always had our measure. It was only shadow boxing recently with the final place sewn up. We have grounds for optimism but both teams respective ambitions are clear. Carlow - top 12. Kerry - top 14. Kerry have reached our target.
Down are champions. Just as top 1B teams e.g. Dublin and Limerick last year can challenge for provincial honours, the top 2B teams can challenge for Ring honours.

I don't see how the day of the final round of proper football league is the day for the 2A final. I mean like Kerry have Cork in tralee. Saturday or a hurling weekend would be appropriate and right.

Maybe Sky will show it?

no disrespect to Kerry, but i would like Carlow to win, maybe it was the MLR story, but i would like their story to continue, but i think that kerry could trouble offaly more - no logic, just sense it

I fancy Kerry to win this although they are carrying a few injuries I hear. Having said that I would not begrudge Carlow. Awful pity it clashes with the footballers. More need to be made of these games.

I agree with most of what John says in the below article, Division 2 winners should be automatically promoted.

I also think he makes a good point when he says (to paraphrase) that, when it comes to the developing teams, its not just about giving money to the "weaker" counties, its about creating the right structure for those counties to progress. Thats something that should be pointed out more. While these counties should be getting the proper funding for their hurling developement, its pointless if the structures aren't in place to allow them to progress as they improve.

An interesting game for Kerry. It should be a fair reflection of where the team is. In all honesty, it's hard to look past Carlow with their McCarthy level experience and return of MLR contingent.

I think if either team is going to beat Offaly then it would be Carlow. The have been mixing more at that level for a few years. The boost of the MLR boys could see them through. Kerry are improving but probably wouldnt make the step up as easily. It would be nice to see one of them make it to 1B - would throw a cat amongst the pidgeons for sure to relegate Offaly.

Very happy with the call that Meyler has made for this game. He has brought 6 MLR guys straight back into the starting team, that is obviously tough on some of the players who have done well in getting us to the final, but it's the right call. Means we have a quality bench to call on too if needed.

A couple of odd positional calls but reckon once game starts they will change. Would be fairly confident of a Carlow win, we should win this by a few points but blending the MLR guys with the rest might be a problem. Even if it is going wrong, I think Meyler has the cop on to sort it with subs where needed.

Well done to Kerry, great to see the animals taking hurling seriously ;). Have to feel for Carlow though, and i don't think Kerry will beat Offaly to be honest, complete and utter joke from the GAA.

A joke that Kerry don't go straight up. So much for promotinghurling in the smaller counties.

Wow, did not expect that, great result for Kerry. Yes, they should be getting promoted automatically, but the reality is that they now have a week to prepare for a match, against a team who have been playing at a higher level in 1b. However, Kerry do have the momentum, and if they can keep their heads and nto over-celebrate today's win (although I wouldn't blame them if they did), then they've got a chance. Does anyone know where the Offaly game is going to be played? I think the least the 2A champs should get is home advantage.

Its an absolute disgrace that kerry have to play offaly! Can someone please tell me why this format was put in place? There would be uproar if 1b had the same format!

I hate hearing this nonsesense about 'hurling needs a strong offaly'. Offally were the worst team in 1b and should be relegated. no they get two chances to survive the drop aside from playing in the league. the structure is completely designed to lock in the top counties and make it very hard for others to get in. How about the phrase 'hurling needs a strong kerry' :)

Well done Kerry. Backed them at 5/2.

Absolute nonsense as others have said that they have to play Offaly next week. Offaly in effect get three chances to stay up!

How in the name of jaysus is that fair or part of any league?

No harm to Offaly by the way.

FishermanTom, in 1B Offaly finished on 3 points and Antrim on 0, so if anything it was Antrim who were given (and made use of)the second chance. Offaly are only getting their second chance now against Kerry.
