He's been bigging up Down, "the Christy Ring champions", too. I was at that game in Croker & really it was one Kerry should've won. Down have lost 3 or 4 from that team & are currently operating in a lower division. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 25/03/2014 17:59:59 1564970 Link 0 |
Unfortunately speaking from experience. Carlow have always had our measure. It was only shadow boxing recently with the final place sewn up. We have grounds for optimism but both teams respective ambitions are clear. Carlow - top 12. Kerry - top 14. Kerry have reached our target. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7853 - 26/03/2014 08:08:14 1565092 Link 0 |
I don't see how the day of the final round of proper football league is the day for the 2A final. I mean like Kerry have Cork in tralee. Saturday or a hurling weekend would be appropriate and right. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7853 - 01/04/2014 20:41:45 1568878 Link 0 |

no disrespect to Kerry, but i would like Carlow to win, maybe it was the MLR story, but i would like their story to continue, but i think that kerry could trouble offaly more - no logic, just sense it cuchulainn35 (Armagh) - Posts: 1675 - 01/04/2014 21:38:59 1568942 Link 0 |
I fancy Kerry to win this although they are carrying a few injuries I hear. Having said that I would not begrudge Carlow. Awful pity it clashes with the footballers. More need to be made of these games. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 01/04/2014 21:43:40 1568950 Link 0 |
I agree with most of what John says in the below article, Division 2 winners should be automatically promoted. Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 04/04/2014 16:34:04 1570453 Link 0 |
An interesting game for Kerry. It should be a fair reflection of where the team is. In all honesty, it's hard to look past Carlow with their McCarthy level experience and return of MLR contingent. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7853 - 04/04/2014 16:37:53 1570456 Link 0 |
I think if either team is going to beat Offaly then it would be Carlow. The have been mixing more at that level for a few years. The boost of the MLR boys could see them through. Kerry are improving but probably wouldnt make the step up as easily. It would be nice to see one of them make it to 1B - would throw a cat amongst the pidgeons for sure to relegate Offaly. jpcampion (Laois) - Posts: 194 - 04/04/2014 16:53:00 1570463 Link 0 |
Very happy with the call that Meyler has made for this game. He has brought 6 MLR guys straight back into the starting team, that is obviously tough on some of the players who have done well in getting us to the final, but it's the right call. Means we have a quality bench to call on too if needed. The Real 1944 (Carlow) - Posts: 1114 - 04/04/2014 19:00:25 1570495 Link 0 |
Well done to Kerry, great to see the animals taking hurling seriously ;). Have to feel for Carlow though, and i don't think Kerry will beat Offaly to be honest, complete and utter joke from the GAA. RebelCork (Cork) - Posts: 789 - 06/04/2014 17:17:14 1571082 Link 0 |
A joke that Kerry don't go straight up. So much for promotinghurling in the smaller counties. Matthew (None) - Posts: 1006 - 06/04/2014 17:24:52 1571087 Link 0 |

joke that kerry have to have play off with offaly, why cant't kerry go straight up? laois went straight up last year and acquitted themselves very well kerryluck (Kerry) - Posts: 2517 - 06/04/2014 17:28:22 1571093 Link 0 |
Wow, did not expect that, great result for Kerry. Yes, they should be getting promoted automatically, but the reality is that they now have a week to prepare for a match, against a team who have been playing at a higher level in 1b. However, Kerry do have the momentum, and if they can keep their heads and nto over-celebrate today's win (although I wouldn't blame them if they did), then they've got a chance. Does anyone know where the Offaly game is going to be played? I think the least the 2A champs should get is home advantage. Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 06/04/2014 17:43:17 1571105 Link 0 |
Its an absolute disgrace that kerry have to play offaly! Can someone please tell me why this format was put in place? There would be uproar if 1b had the same format! as_ky (Kerry) - Posts: 535 - 06/04/2014 17:54:04 1571111 Link 0 |
I hate hearing this nonsesense about 'hurling needs a strong offaly'. Offally were the worst team in 1b and should be relegated. no they get two chances to survive the drop aside from playing in the league. the structure is completely designed to lock in the top counties and make it very hard for others to get in. How about the phrase 'hurling needs a strong kerry' :) Fishermantom (Limerick) - Posts: 569 - 06/04/2014 17:59:21 1571116 Link 0 |
Well done Kerry. Backed them at 5/2. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 06/04/2014 18:05:04 1571124 Link 0 |
FishermanTom, in 1B Offaly finished on 3 points and Antrim on 0, so if anything it was Antrim who were given (and made use of)the second chance. Offaly are only getting their second chance now against Kerry. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1644 - 06/04/2014 18:06:59 1571127 Link 0 |
