I have to disagree with you as far as Kerry and Dublin taking the league seriously , if you were in the stadium last night and saw how happy the Dublin team and fans were and how pissed off the Kerry team and fans were you wouldn't think that. We wanted to win that game no doubt and so did Dublin, but both teams played excellent football and blooded new players and like 1 of the Dublin posters said we're playing a lot better then we were this time last year but we got to go and beat Derry now next week and they had a good draw against Tyrone last night so that won't be easy. We deffo take league seriously as should every team.

I know kealy made 2 good saves but you'd expect him to do at least that much right, cluxtons kickouts were immaculate last night a joy to watch, the 3 things you look for in a keeper a good shot stopper , confident under a high ball , and good at kick outs , kealy only ticks 1 of those boxes.

Ormonde, saying its the 2nd biggest competition says it all. I agree that it is but that's the problem. If Dublin or Kerry win the league and lose in the All-Ireland final, their year will be a failure. If they win the All-Ireland and loose every game in the league, their year is a complete success.

Teams are judged on championship, not on the league. The league is only treated as a competition to find new players for the championship.

The changes needed for the All-Ireland have already been flogged to death on this forum but getting rid of the lopsided & completely unfair provincial championships would be a start and have 8 counties in 4 groups or 4 counties in 8 groups and have proper league that means something, not a warm-up for the championship as it currently is.

Lads Peter Crowley motm was I watching a different game? He wasn't even Kerry's best player ffs. When there judging Dublin games they don't judge it fairly cause any team that's two points down with a man sent off and holds the other team scoreless for the next 25 minutes surely has a motm amongst there team. No way was Crowley the best player on show last night.

What a surprise to see this kinda comment from you. ''When there judging Dublin games they don't judge it fairly'' is has to be your best one yet

once again despite all their underage ''superstars'' the Dubs still need outside players...

That isn't true that league is only to find new players for championship. Successful league often and more often than not is basis for successful championship campaign
Changes should be for league played throughout season and championship to be mix of league and cup competition

They don't , they judge us by our so called advantages and not by two teams going head to head in an evenly match up. Crowley motm was the strangest call I've seen in along time. Outside players Moomoo? Good to see your able to take a beating Moomoo.

Good to see a certain poster resorting to nonsensical ramblings after losing again.

Looking forward to more now; )

KingdomBoy my point is though is that the league is not important. Of course Kerry wanted to win last night and do as well as they can in the league but where they finish in the league is not going to determine whether their season is a success or not. I don't think Kerry people would see 2014 as a success if they win the league but not the All-Ireland.

Teams are measured on how many All-Irelands they win, not on the how many leagues they win. Most people haven't a clue how many league titles Kerry & Dublin have but they would know how many All-Irelands they have. That is all that matters.

Winning the league is a big thing county man. More so in last 10/15 years. Days of ignoring the league and hoping to do well in Summer are long gone. Dublin only copped on to that with Gilroy. Dublin and Kerry have bigger ambitions obviously as have the others in Division One but it is a pretty short window of opportunity to have your cards ready to be dealt after June. More so for Kerry than Dublin at this stage.

For Dublin, Gavin has set up a structure and a team ethos where he can throw in any number of players and get a result. Going to be hard beat boys!

I hear what your saying but hurlingdub covered it fairly well in his post, the league has become so important in the last 5 years, if you win the league it's a serious springboard for the championship.
