1538750 Good article here about the 2013 semi

Ya just read that article.. excellent insight now in all fairness.

______

Yes his comment regarding the Mannion goal was interesting

A lucky goal if you will

I remember a ball hitting the high up right and falling right into the hands of a Kerry man... who put his head down and charged at Cluxton's chest without making any sort of indication of either kicking/passing the ball

= Peno.

But sure that wasn't lucky... a ball hitting off the post turned into 3 points very quickly.

But sure no mention of that...

Would this game really be the biggest rivalry in Gaelic football at present?

I mean in the 1970's and 1980's it was a fierce competitive rivalry, but since then it's very much a game which brings back memories of an era long gone for Dublin/Kerry players and fans.

It's just the medias lust for bromance, Dublin & Kerry, it has a nice ring to it, like :)

Most rivalries are within the provinces for obvious reasons , because Dublin & Kerry cross swords at the business end, there is scope for national interest and like it or lump it, it works !

Its a disgrace that national league footy and hurling doesn't get as much hype as champ. Great competition and probably fairest with its structure. Weaker teams actually have a realistic chance of winning something.

considering how much sky hype football, surely rte would be able to at least create some hype?

maybe, the season opener should be on our national broadcaster?

What would you suggest is a bigger or more relevant rivalry currently in football than Dublin V Kerry Gary?
( i ask this genuinely, not in a smarmy way. Its hard to get that across on a forum! :) )

In fairness, it's mostly just oul fellas harking back to their youth when it was a great rivalry, in the 70s and 80s. It's time to let the past go lads, theres a lot of water gone under the bridge since then. I think the proof is that we don't even hate each other anymore. You'd never have seen the amount of mutual simpering and love-ins between us back then. Get a room!

It was a lucky in how it dropped short. The finish wasn't lucky.
Course there was no mention of the ball hitting the post.
The point of the article wasn't what went for Kerry on the day but against.
Some of it our making and some of it not.

1539053 Ath Cliath, I can assure you I go to my Cork games ( in either code) than you go to Dublin games and it takes more of an effort in travel than leaving my house half an hour before throw-in that the Dubs only need do. Anyway, with all the bags of moolah that the Dublin CB have, shouldn't they, rather than the GAA itself, be the ones who should go promoting this game. And they could restrict it to Dublin papers and radio stations and the one and a half million population on their doorstep because you cant't expect people from Kerry to face into anything up to an 8 hour return journey on a winter Saturday night.

Your argument about fans traveling long distances is true, unfortunately it doesn't apply to you , Sorry but your on here on other threads when Cork do be playing. Nothing wrong with that , your entitled to do what you want.

Classic KeyserSoze.....

Dublin hating comments....

Like Cork fans.....how many more Cork fans were there a few years ago in the rain when Cork beat Dublin....and we were all soaked. I would say 50/50 in your home ground.....Dublin only player Bernard up top....was a brutal game to watch.

Were you there Keyser....I was.

The GAA are there to promote the games.....they get the TV cash. Give the DCB the TV cash and the promotion rights and they will fill a stadium, and have an advertising campaign with razzamatazz. Dublins Hill 16 passes sold out.....Dublins Season tickets sold out......Dublin making the league financially viable and getting interest...CHECK.

All Ireland Football Final..........giving more tickets to Mayo fans after Dublin had been milked dry........ BEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPP

DCB should continue to use their revenues to fund underage set up in hurling and football. The National League.....well.....its not our responsibility really. Kildare in financial turmoil and didn't go for Double Headers in Croke Park.......??? What madness is that.....your county board is in debt...and you have a chance to steal half the monies from a Friday/Saturday in Croke Park....and you say no.

Nonsense!

Until managers and counties take it seriously and pick their strongest teams , it is not a premier competition worth giving much coverage to. In fairness to the Irish Times they have half of their front page of sports section given to the Dublin-Kerry game which is notable on the opening day of the 6 nations.

14 clubs represented. I know it's not our best team, but that's some indication of the strength of club football in the county

Lads will the game go ahead this evening? I'm heading up in an hour but it's fair wild down here at the minute. It'l be a pure balls if we drive all the way to Dublin and then for the game to be called off.

Was thinking the same Kingdom. If it was Parnell it would definitely be off. I would imagine that they cover the pitch in Croker and it is pretty well protected by stands so should be okay.
