Just went through the fixtures and made some very early predictions, Dublin have a nice set of games, Tyrone and Mayo have tough ones. Here's the table I predicted (although I know it's very early to predict all the games this early): JMK (Kerry) - Posts: 273 - 17/01/2014 16:11:32 1533101 Link 0 |
Kerry maybe could sneak it with a few players back in April but can't look past the Dubs at the minute. JMK (Kerry) - Posts: 273 - 17/01/2014 16:12:29 1533102 Link 0 |
JMK as far as I know if there are more then two teams are tied on the same amount of points it goes to points difference. If two teams are tied on the same amount of points it goes on head to head. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 17/01/2014 16:30:14 1533119 Link 0 |
I say Dublin to win it and hopefully we'll stay up, but we could really do with getting to the final coz if we don't we'll have 11 week till out next game in Munster championship. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 17/01/2014 16:33:46 1533122 Link 0 |
Is anyone more interested in Div 2 than 1?? Can anyone call Division 2?? Apart from Louth and Armagh those sides are fairly well matched. Very interesting division. Hard run of games for Donegal they'll struggle to bounce back I reckon!! I'd say Monaghan, Meath & Galway top 3. JMK (Kerry) - Posts: 273 - 17/01/2014 16:47:32 1533131 Link 0 |
JMK we had Tyrone at home for the play offs and couldn't beat them so I can't see us doing it in the League especially with the number of our experienced players that are out injured. Last year we got a few lucky wins in the early matches, games in truth we should have lost, which kept us up and actually got us into the semifinals. I can't see us repeating that this year. However we'll still go to all the matches believing (hoping??) we'll win them all!! OntheWhiteSide (Kildare) - Posts: 452 - 17/01/2014 17:24:58 1533151 Link 0 |
The Dubs will be using about 10 of the u21s from 2012 and 2 minors from 2011 plus a few fringe senior players so its a lottery how we will do ,The Kerry match will be interesting. On a plus they will keep the older lads (the 23 year olds :) )on their toes for latter end of league and championship. AthCliath (Dublin) - Posts: 4347 - 17/01/2014 17:37:43 1533156 Link 0 |
Personally I think Mayo or Tyrone will win, as my fellow county posters have said we will be happy to remain I Div 1 and unearth 1 or maybe 2 new players, a bonus would be a semi final spot because the gap between league and (no disrespect to my Munster Counties) and the Munster Final is about 10-12 weeks madness, I'd suspect Westmeath and Kildare will drift to div 2. Almost certain the Dubs won't win. Tyrone for me. They take league way more serious than anyone else. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 17/01/2014 18:47:57 1533181 Link 0 |
Our last game will be at home to Westmeath. That game could well decide which team remains in Div 1 or is relegated. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 2991 - 17/01/2014 18:58:52 1533191 Link 0 |
AthCliath called it. Dublin will be experimenting big time with the younger lads. If we get into relegation trouble then the big guns will be unloaded. Not the way I would like to see it but that's the way it looks. Our early exit from the OBC means that heavy experimentation will carry into the league. Tyrone will take this seriously and on the back of a good McKenna will take the league. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 17/01/2014 20:05:44 1533230 Link 0 |
I don't fully understand the Dubs will be experimenting with younger lads theory. This is the top team in the country after all so you would think 4 or 5 new additions to the panel would be sufficient. Hudson, Lowdnes, O'Conghaile, McCarthy, Costello, how many more are expected to make a breakthrough into a team of All-Ireland winners and who exactly is going to be dropped from the panel of 30? League is not the objective Former Poster. Gavin knows probably 9/10 of the team that will start in June. Rest is about maybe finding something new. They will be all out to win it, but that will be down to how fringe players perform. You won't see any more than 7/8 of AI final starters on any one day in the league. That's for certain. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 17/01/2014 21:23:35 1533272 Link 0 |

Totally forgot about Derry. I'll go with them to drop along with Westmeath. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 18/01/2014 13:02:29 1533332 Link 0 |
YOU NEED D1 football to be in with any chance of winning SAM thats why Mickey puts alot of emphasis into the league maybe not winning the league but dinning at the top table is essential prep for the championship outside of the division Donegal been there done it and have far to much quality to be ruled out . fortyfive (Tyrone) - Posts: 5929 - 18/01/2014 13:14:24 1533341 Link 0 |
Dubs,Cork,Tyrone and Mayo to reach the semies with Dublin to win it. Westmeath and Derry to get relegated. OLLIE (Louth) - Posts: 12224 - 18/01/2014 14:46:56 1533355 Link 0 |
Certainly need to be in div 1 these days to win Sam, but even the most optimistic Westmeath, Kildare, Derry fan wouldn't say they going to win Sam, now Tyrone some of them think they will but can't see it happening either. Realistically its Dublin out in front followed by cork Mayo Kerry when it comes to championship, rest just making up the numbers or looking for provincial title. Outside them 4 no one else have a hope unfortunately :( royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 18/01/2014 15:16:09 1533367 Link 0 |
Royaldunne you have serious anti-Tyrone Vibes. Touche after last year? Gael01 (Tyrone) - Posts: 74 - 18/01/2014 15:51:56 1533383 Link 0 |
Dublin May start slow but ultimately will be in the semi final and probably win it. Second favourites I would say Tyrone. Kerry not likely, mayo depends on attitude and how much do they want out of the league, I'd say not enough to win it. For Kildare it would be good to stay up and remain in the top division but it's not going to be easy. Two of Kildare Westmeath and Derry to go down. A good start is essential for these sides. As for the championship Donegal know how it's done but I doubt they can repeat their unbelievable performance of 2012. Cork are an unknown really with so many changes. Kerry won't beat that Dublin team. Mayo have the ability as they showed in the first half of this years final, can they improve on last year? jonno (Kildare) - Posts: 260 - 18/01/2014 15:57:23 1533384 Link 0 |
