In fairness Longford aren't a patch on their side from last year while Dublin U21 team this year is probably one of their strongest.

after tonights humiliation in carlow i believe its time for some weaker counties to amalgamate.i think its the way forward to create a level playing field for every player and not just by luck(or bad luck)of place of birth.

Great game between Meath and Louth really looking forward to replay. Well done to Offaly perhaps things might change for faithful. What happened to Carlow is very disappointing and does no one any good.

I doubt counties joining up is the answer. Its about the pride in playing for your county.
Seems that it was an exciting night of football in the u21 Leinster championship apart from the slaughtering by the Dubs over Carlow.
Sometimes counties just need to look at themselves and figure out what they are at. Carlow were never going to win the u21 championship but the least expected is having pride in the jersey.

Offaly were impressive last night.Should have won by more.they won't be easily beaten in Leinster either.

Disappointing scoreline between Dublin and Carlow, no one goes out to play badly. You do have to really wonder at how honestly teams are graded by county boards.

Meath were missing a lot of players last night,BUT they should be beating Louth if they want to do well..

Carlow's decline in football is a symptom of their growing stature in hurling. Apparently a lot of under 21 footballers chose not to make themselves available for the county team. It would be easy to criticise Carlow for this, but it has a small player base and one sport will inevtiably suffer when the other is going well.

To be honest,I would have being surprised had the scoreline in the Dublin game was NOT something like it was!

It's n necessarily a "dual" issue in Carlow. A lot of the time the better club footballers there don't make themselves available to the county because a "what's the point?" attitude, in my opinion.

Thats a pity. They'll have to start from the bottom up if thats the attitude.

Tipp and Dublin look to have very strong panels.. full of AI minor winners..

The Connaught championship is very difficult to call at this grade.. As it was last year with 3 strong teams.. Roscommon V Mayo next week with the winners meeting Galway (probably) in the connaught final... Whoever comes out of connaught can win it as they will be well battle hardened..

I thinks its between these 5 teams

Some scoreline from the young Dubs considering they were missing Cormac Costello, Paul Mannion, Glenn Whelan and Emmmett O'Conghaile last night.

Looking forward to the game v Longford especially after what happened last year..

Disagree. No point in amalgamating - where do we stop with that? Longford have a smaller population and less clubs than Carlow and beat ye last year and hopefully will again this year!! no offence meant...

Last year, when Dublin did the same the Carlow, we were talking about splitting Dublin into 16 places and having an 'East Dublin' team then Longord knocked ye on yere *****..Last night was not good for Carlow or Dublin but being honest it was expected. There will be tougher matches ahead for ye. Don't worry!

amalgamate some of the weaker counties.its inevitable it will happen.knowing the gaa it cud take awhile though.like 50 years.

i can see der being only 16 gaa teams/counties in future.every team will have an equal chance of winning honours.also because of the halving of teams all 16 squads in both codes wud be able to be paid professionally.example-wexford/carlow/wicklow will become 1 intercounty franchise.ive bein advocating this for few years now.most people laugh at it saying theres no way u cud break down county rivalries.but a few have totally agreed.

Our side has been named against Kerry. Have a few with some senior experience such as Conor Dorman, Cathal Vaughan, Kevin Crowley. Surprised Alan Cadogan is not starting but then again he is concentrating on hurling. I guess that is why Michael Cahalane is not on the panel either (also doing his leaving cert). Playing Kerry in Tralee is a massive test but all in all we don't look too bad.
