Can anyone stop Kerry lifting Sam in 2014?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Kerry are always there,or there abouts, the Elvis of Gaeilc football,Dublin look the team to be around for a long time,Cork will come back also, Galway 2014, or 2015, will be back. Mayo still a good team can now hold there own with any team, but you need a bit of luck, they dont seem to have any luck,Kildare, Meath will get better, Donegal will i believe come back and go for Sam, we have nothing to lose, and have been written off, but come next May, June, people will see Donegal back up there, along with Tyrone, Down, even Derry, Cavan, Monaghan, most of the Ulster teams, next year, year after will be stronger, and will go direct route, qualifer route for Sam,in saying all that its hard not to see Dublin again lifting Sam in 2014, and Kerry, maybe they are the only team to put it up to Dublin.

No one knows what state our counties will be in 2014!
Sure Bernard Brogan might come back in january with a beer belly after all the celebration, Gooch may have lost his powers by dying his hair, Jim Mcguinness may get a job promotion and take over Rangers etc etc .

U are right about Dublin having the players, but the immigration thing effects all counties, and kerry wouldnt be one of the worse ones believe it or not.

After years of taking talented Kerry Boys and letting them work up here, marry our women, and procreate populating our team with half breed Kerrymen, I think it's only right we give something back.....

We are gonna give every Kerry fan a ticket to watch our first O'Byrne cup game! ;-)

1506105 no disrespect to Kerry, cant see them winning Sam next year,as always Kerry will be there or there abouts, also Cork,Dublin,Mayo???????????,sorry but it just wont happen for Mayo either, Galway. Meath, maybe Laois,Kildare, to give it a lash also, but hi Ulster teams will go direct route, and qualifers route, i believe even at this early stage,Sam will come home to Ulster, will it be Tyrone, Down, or what about Donegal, every1 has written us off, would love Mayo to win Sam, God knows they would deserve it, the heartbreak they have sufferd,

Mchugh11, just to make a point to you...... Being a proud Monaghan man, I am not by any means saying, we will win Sam next year, nor am I saying we wont!
Your post is very dis-respectful to the present Ulster Champions (Monaghan)...... a team that kicked the sssssssugar out of ye in the Ulster final.

Much as I would like to see an Ulster team win it, I think the Dubs will retain it.

I see this posted alot and TBH i really don't understand it. 1989,1997,2004,2006,2012,2013 Mayo were simply beaten by sides that were better them the only bit of luck that wasn't with them was v Meath in 1996 but they had two bites at the cherry that year and still couldn't beat a less than great Meath team.

Hard to find exact figures on this, but I think Mayo have the highest figures.

Kerry have the 'natural footballers' that the rest of us with just our 'manufactured athletes' can only dream of!.....Nobody can stop such men!

Lads i dont know why we are wasting our time on this thread next years League and Championship is a foregone conclusion. No one will be able to match the Dubs on or off the field, they will no doubt try and convince us otherwise now until then but you just wait and see! They can only be likened to a Man City or a Chelsea in terms of the bankrolling they are recieving .......... so much for the recession!

As I so oft say: "I have yet to see a fiver put a ball over the bar"!!!

Kerry revel in their statements that they are the county that possess the 'natural footballers' and that such men are better than 'maunufactured athletes' everyday of the week!!

Surely this means that Kerry who possess such men (as they self proclaim) will be winning SAM every year from now on?

If kerry folk state that it is better to have such natural footballers than manufactured athletes then.......what is their fear about proclaiming they will win SAM 2014?.....Why the change of heart?.....Why not stick to the courage of their convictions?

The Bank of England club is a nickname in English association football for a football club which has a strong financial backing. The name "Bank of England club" came in the 1930s from Arsenal having large amounts of money but deciding to be cautious and austere with it while also breaking British transfer records. The "Bank of England club" has also been used to describe Sunderland in the late 1940s and the 1950s, where they spent large amounts of money.

Is there any county who could be labelled the Bank of Ireland county?!

Yes!....Kerry!

Like BoI, once upon a time they were a powerful institution, but in the last 4 years they have been in all sorts of trouble, yet still think they can bully others and hold them to ransom!!.....the resemblance is uncanny really!

You definitely need generous sponsorship and very understanding employers if you are going to train properly. There is very little between the top 10 counties in the country, when it comes to conditioning levels. For example., Mayo were arguably the fittest team all year, definitely the strongest. Dublin were as fit, but could not match their physical power in the final, but still managed to beat them with more to spare than the scoreline suggests. The point here is that you have to tick all the boxes, not just the conditioning if you are going to win.

You have got to credit Dublin this year, they played very good football, and although the final was an awful game, you have got to average out all their performances thru the year, and they were the best team, by a considerable margin.

There will be many arguing that the dublin money is an unfair advantage, but look at other teams in a given year. Kerry always had a lot of money to throw at the team, aside from their natural strengths and abilities.

If I wanted to vent my business through the GAA I would go to the most successful counties, i.e. Kerry and Kilkenny. Maybe you need a couple of cute business men behind the scenes to negotiate such lucrative deals, couldn't be that hard to sell the Kingdom when they are so renowned and fruitful. The most titles, best footballers and you know Gaelic football will survive for ever as the number one sport, unlike Dublin.

So more fruitfulness and less sour grapes please lads!
