Fishermantom, The Wild Geese book is good. Mind you whoever thought giving them north county savages sticks needs to have a good hard look at themselves!.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Hurling: The Revolution Years. Brilliant book. May need a new edition.

Smith's books were excellent. Used love reading them when I was a kid. He was excellent hurling writer and great books with superb photos. Just wonder where they are now :-(

A super read is "The Road to Croker" by Eamonn Sweeeney. Concentrates on the 2003 season so a touch old but brilliant, he travels to games all over the country and tells the story of that season with passion. I think it would stand the test of time and worth a pop.

I have Michael Duignans, Mickey Hartes and Donal Ogs autobiographies under the bed waiting to be read. In the middle of Ireland's professional amateurs which is only alright, struggling to get into it. The Club and Keys to the Kingdom are both fantastic. Eddie O'Sullivans autobiography is also brilliant from a non-gaa point of view.

Lads iv TAKEN a few into consideration. Had a great oul time readin some of the posts. Ye are gas men when ye want to be. Id hate to be from kildare reading this stuff though. A sure were all one big happy family

Say the next book im onto is Last man standing from Christy O Conner again as they mention my own club so I'll get that on the In O mahonys.

Both in a different era to the tactical, gym-conditioned, professional inter county setups we have now where socialising for players is almost non-existent during the championship.

The best Sports book I ever read was "Raising the Banner" , Ger Loughnanes Autobiography. Couldent leave it down!!
Also if you are a Cavan or Kerry fan or even interested in history,"The fairy tale in New York" by Paul Fitzpatrick is a great read.
One of our finest days if you are a Breffni fan and longing for a return to the Glory days.
I thought Oisin McConvilles book on addiction was very good as well. And a warning to all young sports people.
