Cork Hurling

Really looking forward to the semi against ye lads, has the makings of a cracker. Hopefully no silly reds involved. Tough to call thought you hurled very well on Sunday maybe slightly over dependant on Horgan for score, fair comment?

Im afraid the 5 week gap we have had could have a big influence on the game we had a nice rhythm going.. but I suppose it all boils down to how both teams turn up on the day.

Where do you see the game being won or lost and where do ye see our strengths/weakness?

eaglehaslanded yes i did say they would but obviously "IF" it had remained 15 against 15. when i was looking at it previously how was i to know that there would have been a red card. when journalists or tv analysts predict a game they say who they think will win and dont say "they will win as long as they dont get a red card in the first half". as i said it is easy for you to be clever in hindsight. no one is always right, but the nature of a "PREDICTION" is that it may be wrong so it goes without saying. i havnt seen you predicting any games only coming on here after the result and having a go at people who had previously only giving an honest opinion.

Any ideas how Cork will counteract the sweeper system next sunday? I felt the last day in Limerick Cork were lucky not to concede goals to Clare early on. The main reason that Clare had these chances (IMO) is that Brian Murphy followed Kelly all over the pitch. While Murphy did a good man marking job on Kelly he left the middle unattended and Clare piled through. Whatever plan Cork have for Kelly the next day they need to keep an eye on the middle. I would be for marking the sweeper playing (and holding) McLoughlin or Kearney v deep and going 5 for 5 at the back, Conlon Honan or Ryan are not speedsters which leaves O Neill for Mcgrath (should be ok) and someone (Dunno who has most speed) for Collins. Cork need to go man for man. Clare have been allowed too much space to date.

Seadog54 Why comment on a sport you obviously know nothing about and concentrate on those that win Leinster championships by throwing the ball over the line and cheating Louth of there rightful honour.
Anyway well done to Clare and Cork for such an enjoyable 2 games. The better team won on the day and this Clare team are going be there or thereabouts for the next 5-6 years.
JBM needs to look at a few of the decisions. When you consider that one of the best hurlers in The county John Gardiner cant get a look in (Is this internal politics). Hopefully with Paudie back next year Cork will go one better

nothing to do with on the day. Clare head and shoulders above Cork in every position in both matches.
Ah well the women showed you how to do it right. And as said there is always next year or the year after ect ect.

Have to agree with you anglorebel re John Gardiner. If he had been at centreback you might have seen a very different outcome as he would have checked those Clare runs through the centre in the first half and he is well able to deliver telling ball to the forwards. We will never know now but it is what I was thinking at the time. Sean Og O'Hailpin would have improved the halfback line also.

Lads I agree Gardiner could have improved the situation as your defense left Clare players like Donnellan and McGrath through with shocking ease on Saturday. However Sean Og first played with Cork in 1996 so he was about 19 then, which would make him 37 years old next year.Surely this would hardly be much of an idea going forward. Surely it would be more logical to get Adian Walsh, Colm Shehan and a recovered Paudie O'Sullivan on board for next season.

As a Cork Man Who loves hurling, it is of course awful heartbreaking to witness Our Inter County hurlers loose another All Ireland, but if Cork were destined to loose, Im glad it was to Clare.
The Clare People are the best in the World, and I really wish Them well. UP THE BANNER.

Did Walsh and Sheehan actually train with the hurlers this year? Heard they did and didn't.

Just wondering what do cork people think of the rumours that aidan walsh and caran sheehan are going playing hurliing next year. I have seen walsh play and he is very very good and i have been told that sheehan is an even better player. Imagine how strong cork could be next year if they had these 2 with paudie o'sullivan also returning. if you add in other people who could or should be there like eoin cadogan, damien cahalane and john gardiner... at least 5 of them could start and cork would without doubt have the strongest team in the country

best wishes to Tom Kenny on his retirement. A great player, underated at times and I find it hard to believe he never got an All Star.
