Ring, Rackard, And Meagher Cups 2024

(Oldest Posts First)

The lower tier championships start this weekend. Kildare should seal a routine promotion from the Ring. Kildare and Meath have been swapping places in recent years. Derry will be there closest challengers. Donegal after a good league are probably favourites for the Rackard. Cavan were the only Meagher county in 3A. Possibly favourites there.

CHRISTY RING CUP ROUND 1
Sligo 2-8 Kildare 2-19, Markievicz Park FT
Kildare started with a win as expected.
LORY MEAGHER CUP ROUND 1
Cavan 1-22 Warwickshire 2-13, Kingspan Breffni FT
Cavan have also made a winning start in the Meagher. Cavan have a good chance of winning the Meagher since their return to senior hurling in 2017. New York will probably be the favourites for the Meagher in 2025.

Derry started with a win as expected in the Ring. Whether London challenge them for a final spot against Kildare remains to be seen.

Mayo are the bookies favourites for the Nicky Rackard. They've been operating in 3A but that was due to Tooreen making a run in the club championship in previous years. I think they are the ones to beat in Rackard.

Fermanagh and Longford will have their say in the Meagher but may not be enough for Cavan who have a number of ex Cuala men and good young talent (Liam O'Brien) from Waterford in with them this year.

There won't be much between Donegal and Mayo, I would have thought Donegal would have been favourites with their good league campaign

Kildare beat Derry by 7 points. It could be the final in a few weeks time. London are going well as well though. Both Kildare and London are in 3 wins each.
Donegal are on 3 wins in the Rackard.

Donegal do look like the team to beat in the rackard now having beat Mayo. To be fair they had setanta win the Ulster intermediate and Letterkenny made the junior final and could have won it. I may have been premature on calling Mayo. Still fancy Donegal and Mayo for the final.
