I feel sorry for Carlow - sent down after matching KK. Maybe it's time to merge most McD teams into the Provs? Munster 6 (incl Kerry, top 2 to Muns Final). Lein 10 (2 groups of 5, group winners to Lein Final). AIC KO QFs A) Muns Champ v winner between Lein two 3rds. It's too complicated anyway. Let the lower division of the league serve as a qualifier for provincial championship. Revert provincial back to knockout. Offaly, Antrim and Westmeath played in the NHL1. Next year with the changes the teams who would have come up from 2 will end up playing similar teams to themselves with only Waterford and Dublin as the two top tier teams. Why did the hurling counties allow this to go through? because the league started to mean little to teams other than perhaps the weaker counties. What would happen to round robins with these teams in it - the same thing. I wonder who will take over the Kerry hurlers now that Stephen Molumphy has gone. Would like to see someone from one of the top counties take them over. Cant think of any recently retired players who would be suitable. I know that Brendan Cummins from Tipperary was involved as selector a few years ago. Maybe he could come in and do a job" What about Christy Walsh? He's a proud Kerry man but is living in Kilkenny. And a good hurling man too. He did really well with the Bennetsbridge hurlers. Maybe he could come in and do a job" Cummins would more than likely not show up to games if he'd the opportunity to be on TV. Something he actually did when he was involved with Kerry before. The problem with a lot of lads who come from "hurling counties" to the likes of Kerry is they're fully committed, not all but some. When Eamonn Kelly was managing Kerry we was also managing club teams. Michael Fennelly was playing with Ballyhale in the All-Ireland club championship, and I think he had a coach who was involved with Borris-Ileigh as well, when he became Offaly manager.
