Replay The Munster Hurling Final

Replying To Seeking_silver:  "Well said TomWex.
Technically every mondern tackle in hurling and football is probably a foul.
Those advocating a VAR or TMO style replay to be brought in need to be very careful what they are wishing for. For example in rugby the TMO can go back a few plays. If this happens in hurling every score will be cancelled as a technical foul will most certainly be found."
No! No! There is no need to throw out the baby with the bath water. Use technology to assist the game and referee not take over the game. Keeping and verifying scores. Keeping time. Verifying red cards before issuing. The game has become so fast and technical but we want to continue with old out of date methods that are clearly not good enough today. Especially when every thing is replayed on t.v. and the ref is a target of all types of social media abuse. No one is advocating reviewing every play and every foul. However lets leave the stone age behind us.

Replying To Ryanteam:  "Whatever about Clare being robbed last Sunday , the only time a robbery definitely took place at a Munster Final was in 1977 in Thurles between Cork and Clare. Cork won the game but armed robbers made off with the gate receipts!"
And in the presence of Uachtaran na hEireann as well!

Replying To Ryanteam:  "1944 ! Probably back then the goalkeeper and the ball usually ended up in the back of the net. I think the 1976 Munster Football final should be replayed again! Cork were on rough end of decisions of referee Johnny Moloney that day. Hope the players can still perform!"
No even Cork players of that day acknowledged it should have been a free out.

I was there the same day in the scorching heat. How the Robbers got the energy to do what they did on that day is amazing

I meant when Brian Murphy caught ball on goal line, but was adjudged by the umpire to be behind line. A goal was awarded, even though tv footage later showed he clearly wasn't behind the line. Even the Kerry forwards agreed with Cork . I'm sure you know better though! Later in game, Declan Barron had a goal disallowed.

Tomsmith here

It is felt by many that a total injustice was dome to County Clare, if any decency existed the Limerick spectators would demand that Clare get a replay

Tomsmith.. Skillet here.
As you seem to have a real interest in the well being of Clare hurling what are your thoughts on their QF v Dublin this Saturday?

Isn't it a terrible insult to poor Clare that it's on in Limerick, the scene of the crime also. We know they would have preferred Cork due to the bitter memories from their last trip here.

I'm sure us Limerick supporters at it will find our decency and be magnanimous at all times though.

Finally, I'd suggest it's time to stop, move on and find a new topic to WUM.
Here's something to consider, a free pint with every ticket for the league purchased.
It'd be a way of rewarding the real supporters!

I only know about 25 - 30 Clare fans but they are focused on the Dublin game this weekend. Might be a distraction for them now if they need to also prepare for a replayed Munster final.

They won't have to worry about any more matches after Saturday :-)

I have about 30 hours of delusion left buttressed by a few pints before the game, so I'll take that!

I'll be in that same source of delusion but only if the lift I am counting on comes through, else I'll have to drive myself so can't even rely on it.

Should be a good day out. Have been lucky to see some real classics at quarter finals stages including days Dublin have been on the bill. Much preferable even to Croke Park semi finals, even just for the fact that Thurles is packed and the town buzzing for the day.

Not been in Limerick for a big hurling day, just a succession of poorly attended Dublin games back to 70s.

How dare you. We don't have to 'find our decency'- Our decency never, ever goes missing.

Welcome to the 'new' home of hurling Barney with over 150,000 people at the last 4 big championship matches in Limerick, hopefully the weather improves because we could get 2 cracking games tomorrow.
