So Rob Hennelly is transferring to Raheny in Dublin. I wonder will we see the same outrage that surrounded Shane Walsh?

I didn't like the Shane Walsh outrage myself just to start off but given that Hennelly has lived in Dublin the last 12 years and is not transferring to maybe the biggest club in the country then not, Chris Barrett transferred to Clontarf a couple of years ago and that wasn't met with negative reaction either.

Maybe the better the footballer you are, and the bigger the club you're going to, the bigger the outrage?

The Shane Walsh outrage was because Kilmacud are the biggest Club in Dublin and had been in last year's All Ireland. There was clubs closer to him but went to Crokes

I hope it doesn't turn into a run of players opting to join Dublin clubs. I know the travel problems that players have but it could destroy senior club football in counties on the Atlantic coast. the last thing the game needs is to have 5 or 6 super clubs based in Dublin. I know some Dublin fans will take offense to this but they will have to admit it wouldn't be good for the game.

I'd agree about the club profile, but Enda Varley transferred to Vincent's who were one of the strongest clubs in the country at the time and nobody batted an eyelid.
The profile of the player is a big part of it too. Shane Walsh was after coming off a brilliant All-Ireland performance, so he was very much in the public eye at the time.
All these factors combined caused the furore for some.

One transfers to the biggest club in the country, and a team who lost an All Ireland in injury time. Almost guaranteed glory.

The other to a mid ranked club, and has lived in Dublin 12 years. What do you think?
Why would someone start a thread with such an obvious answer to the question they pose?
